I was somewhat disappointed that Maddison did not get any pitch time considering his current form over the last season and a bit. Seems strange that every week on MOTD etc all the piundits keep telling us it sure,uy is aonly a matter of time before he gets his start and that he is the "future" of England and just the type of creative player we have been crying out for yet he is persistently overlooked.

 

Not altogether sure that I agree with the "big" club conspiracy theories. When you look back, there is certainly precedence of ignoring the creative in favour of grafters (Le Tissier, Hoddle to name two). There is certainly a time and place for the latter, but surel;y we do not need them against the likes of Bulgaria and Kosovo.

I would not be surprised if Mount gets a start tonight in place of Barclay. If that is the case then I may revise my thinking on the "big" club theory
