Really bland looking designs.

the only redeeming feature (if kept)

That is awful.

Modern buildings are in general utterly terrible, with a few exceptions (I quite like the circular tower thing not far from this)

Why did you have that opinion?

Every city is struggling with lack of football these days as your average person has less spending power than a few years ago.

There's been huge improvements in Leicester over the last decade or two, highcross, cathedral quarter, market is improving, jubilee Square, curve and the bars opposite.... Loads better.

Admittedly gallowtree gate has gone downhill but that's just because things have moved up the road.

Haymarket should have been knocked down in the 90s.

I don't know anyone that thinks Leicester is better now than 30 years ago but if you say so.

I do. When I was growing up it was highcross-soarpoint-mosh-las vegas-home. Now every time I come back there seems to be loads of options for leisure. Familiarity breeds contempt. Everyone I know who hates Leicester hasn't lived anywhere else and looks back at their golden youth before their dreams and hopes were crushed.

Ver disappointing that the club has just left the site for years and in fairness even before King Power came in.

The club don't own the site it was sold to pay for the new stadium. It's down to prospective builders and the council planners / Soulsby and to be fair to them they have minimal influence. I guess as long it gets built and they get some more council tax money to waste then they'll be happy.

It could have been re-purchased no? If the club cared about our history that’s what they would have done or at least looked into it.

Of course but they don’t care about our history that’s why they took the banner down and replaced it with KP with the LCFC hidden behind the screens. They also took all the banners outside down and again replaced them with KP.

We’re struggling financially but still prefer the KP stadium. It was only recently after complaints that they made a half hearted attempt to make the stadium from the outside look like the home LCFC rather than KPFC. From the off they used LCFC as a vehicle to promote the King Power brand they got lucky winning the league and cup but now haven’t the resources to even do that if any thing the King Power brand has become tarnished with the smell of failure and mismanagement.

Aye - I’ve asked @Foxes_Trust if something can be said around getting the old banner back and not the lifeless king power one at the moment. I do think part  of  the problem with the atmosphere is the lack of character in the ground.

The banner was cut up and sold off.

Notice how the banner says King Power Stadium Est. 1884 with just a small badge the Leicester City FC is hidden behind the screens at both ends

Not looking to be argumentative but I think that's such nonsense.

There's no clubs now. Music is crap now. Nobody goes out. But they aren't just Leicester issues.

The city itself has gone 1/3rd of the way to knocking down all the crap that needed knocking down in the 80s.

If you think it's better then great.

When I come back it is only really for football. But there's way more homeless than I see in most places, most of the Highcross is boarded up, like you said the nightclubs and a lot of pubs are gone. I just think it's declined. I don't think anyone looks at it and says I'd like to live there.

Take it from your name you also don't live there.

I lived there until recently when I moved to where my name suggests now. So I've lived there for over 40 years.

I don't disagree re homeless etc, I just think that's a wider society problem.

Just on what the city has in a pretty crappy economy that's lasted for quite a few years now, I think what there is, is better than what there was. Loads more food choices
