Classic.

The live versions are wonderful too

What an album AFTP

The River is an astounding song

The river/Nightswimming probably my two favourite R.E.M Songs.  What a closer for the album.

Not sure if these guys are even known outside of here in Canada.

One of my absolute favourite bands and still going today.

This was the first song I ever heard from them:

"It’s not the band I hate, it's their fans".

Big Sloan fan. Glad to see they're still active – and rocking!

"Coax me" is probably their most beautiful and melodic tune, reminiscent of the Beatles.

How about this one?

Speaking of another rather underrated Canadian band, may I suggest Thrush Hermit?

@spacemunky
No longer active – some may know Joel Plaskett, who went on to have a pretty successful solo career (to this day).

I recall the name and that song sounds familiar.

All through my 20's (long ago!) I listened to CFNY 102.1 in Toronto here. They definitely would play a lot of bands like that.

Then they became 102.1 The Edge and sounded like every other radio station that pretended to be 'alternative', but just played Green Day and the Foo Fighters.

Staying in Canada, Chilly Gonzales must be mentioned (although he had moved to Berlin prior to the release of Gonzales Über Alles):

This will be more to @spacemunky's liking. Remember these? Vancouver-based, the drummer plays with the New Pornographers (or used to)..

That one was played a lot here.

Definitely takes me back!

My go-to station was CBC Radio 3 – until they cut off listeners outside of Canada about 10 to 15 years ago.
