Watch Scratch Removal

Recommended Posts

Posted

Hi,

Can anyone advise how I can remove this frosted but from the middle of the crystal?

i am trying to work out how to do it myself so don’t want to get a replacement and as it is a cheap as chips watch then I wouldn’t anyway.

I have been using fine grit sandpaper to get where I am.

Any advice is gratefully received.

Thanks

1200 grit emery paper, keep going till the acrylic has a consistent dullness , then brasso on a microfibe cloth and rub the watch on it for a while, keep adding brasso.

When I saw the thread title, I initially thought this was an invitation to a new form of lockdown entertainment.

Was going to say I'd prefer to watch paint dry than watch scratch removal, thanks.

Thanks mate it worked a treat. I did think that if I went up the grit to a 2500 or 3000 it would be even more precise. Is there a reason you say 1000 grit?

Thanks

Because you need to be able to cut the scratches out with the brasso, if the scratches are too small the cutting compound in brasso won’t be able to penetrate the surface. That’s my theory anyway.
