The People's Hero Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas - 5 (really unconvincing, his mind didn't seem on it) Maybury - 5 (off the pace, unconvincing at the back. Did put in a good ball late on but otherwise offered very little going forwards) McCarthy - 5 (made too many errors.. don't share many people's praise for his performance) Gerrbrand - 9 (looks extremely confident and distribution generally very good) Johansson - 7 (fairly solid at the back and passed the ball well, just should have given smith the ball more) Sylla - 7 (looked positive and worked hard. Unlucky on a lot of refereeing decisions. Sort out the studs though) Kisnorbo - 6 (seemed a bit off the pace) Williams - 4 (After a bright start to the game, wasted possession too often) Smith - 8 (our best option going forwards, should have seen more of the ball. Makes things happen) Hammond - 3 (in my opinion, woeful. Looked completely clueless and when presented with chances often fluffed efforts. Probably lacking confidence, but also, in my opinion, lacking in ability in front of goal) Dublin - 7.5 (Thought he had a good game and as soon as Hume came on, they combined well) Subs: Tiatto - 5 Hamill - 5 Hume - 9 (Really thought he did well when he came on. Wanted the ball, worked hard and could have nicked it late on. Hume and Dublin up front please.
lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Lush whilst I respect everyone's own opinion, I strongly disagree with yours and especially your opinion about Dublin. He was voted our best player over the past month and was consistely in the top 5 best players every game. Surely there are other players who deserve more criticism than him at the moment?? If you can describe to me in footballing terms why dubs has been our best player/is good enough for us, i`ll promise not to slate him for the rest of my life. I dont want your opinion, i want good enough descriptions that occured on football pitches. There are other rubbish players at city, williams, joey, wilcox, de lump, and possibly gilbert (jury`s still out). I`d release the first 5 aSap.

Dublin is extremely good at holding the ball up and laying it off for others. He also possesses natural fitness and athleticism as well as vast experience which enables him to win free kicks etc in areas where other players wouldn't. If he had someone like Dickov/Hume alongside him week in week out, I think a good partnership would emerge. He was often involved in our more enterprising attacking moves on Saturday only for Sylla/Hammond to receive and waste possession of the ball. So there.

It's a funny old game, all my fellow foxes and myself couldn't muster more than a 4 for Mr Dublin yesterday and 3 of them were for turning up unlike Mr Gareth
SystonFox Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas - 6 - did nothing majorly wrong only had 2 make 1 important save and he did it. Maybury - 5 - not so good. didnt go forward and seemed to be elsewhere when he was needed. we know he can do better Gerrbrand 8 - excellent. 1st time i've seen him since Inter Milan and he was outstanding today. composed. calm and can read the game. good signing McCarthy 8 - again excellent, looked a bit hesitant at times but made up for it with some important tackles. Johansson - 6 Not so good yesterday, except for 1 southampton attack which led to the douglas save with his legs he didnt do much wrong Smith 8- fantastic. 1st time i seen him play and as i've read on here before he looks dangerous each time he's on the ball. hope we get him till the end of the season Williams - 5- anonymous. thats it Kisnorbo - 5 as above Sylla - 7 - looks dangerous at times but other times looks lazy and he cant be arsed to get back. Dublin - 5 - Abysmal, shouldnt be playing as a striker for 90 mins, maybe not even 60?! i do rate him as a centre back but i cant see him forcing out McCarthy or Gerrbrand now. Hammond - 6- didnt look threatening. probably due to the service as the HOOF tactic doesnt suit him. he wants balls to run onto. Subs - Tiatto - 6 - didnt do much Hammil - 6 as above Huuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuume - 8 - looked lively and wanted a goal more than anyone ever has. great header on 90 mins i thought he'd clinced it. however it was a fantastic save by Niemmi
Lichfieldfox. Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Thought I'd give this forum a go as seems more interesting than LCFC messageboards which are always empty. Douglas 5 Looks dodgy - Henderson a better bet Maybury 5 Out of sorts all season Paddy Mac 7 Excellent Gerrbrand 8 Quality performance Johannsen 6 Poor distribution Sylla 6 In and out again Williams 6 Out of position let down by Kisnorbo Kisnorbo 4 Awful in MF maybe play in defence or as a sub Smith 7 Exciting but poor 1st touch and awareness of others Dublin 6 Two great strikes but otherwise ordinary Hammond 5 Glaring miss not great Tiatto 5 Headless chicken but didn't get booked Hammill 4 Did nothing Hume 6 Sparky not on long enough to do much, needds to start Levein 6 What does he say at 1/2 time to make them play worse??

reynard Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas 4 His worst game for us so far? dropped the ball at least 3 times + bad foul on their striker. mistakes very nearly resulted in a goal for Suthampton. kicking also poor. several throws poor as well. maybury 5 what has gone wrong here. another lacklustre display. mcarthy 6 pretty solid but another dodgy backpass. getting better. gerrbrand 8 probably our best player. good in the air some great tackles and read the game brilliantly. could be a good signing. johansson 5 out of position. tries hard but he is not a natural left back and it shows. williams 3 anonymous in the 1st half and worse in the second. for sale in january? kisnorbo 2 the guy simply is a poor version of Junior lewis. can't pass more than 2 yards and always sideways or backwards. offers nothing at all. sylla 4 yet another typical Sylla performance. good for 5 minutes but innefective for the rest. as a winger how many times does he get to the byline? not once yesterday. can't beat a player. 1 good corner and 1 good shot little else. he owes us goals as an attacking midfield player but I can't see him scoring any. smith 5 looks like he's got talent but imo he was only average yasterday. he has pace and skill but crossing was poor and he didn't get to the byline much. first touch average. also it appears he only has a left foot. so craig why play him on the right? every time he played there he cut inside (because he has no right foot??). also 1 backheel in our own half nearly let in Southampton. Not the world beater yet. Dublin 4.5 tried hard? too slow to play upfront now. also how much did he win in the air? never looked like he would score. his best bit of play was an excellent clearing header from a Southamton corner in the 2nd half. Hammond 5 Again tried hard but as a striker he needs to find the back of the net. never looked like he would score. can't see him getting more than 5 goals a season at the moment. tiatto 6 typical performance lots of energy but little direction. at least showed some passion and didn't get booked. Hume 7 should start instead of hammond. however, needs to starts scoring. positional play somewhat erratic but will improve. great header at the end. hamill 4 forgot he played. can't think of anything he did right or wrong.
