Mark Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Douglas 5 - Wouldn't fill me with confidence playing in front of him Maybury - 4 - Awful distribution, wouldn't attack. McCarthy - 7 - Dealt well with their strikeforce Gerrbrand - 8 - Same again but stood out, looked to pass the ball out rather than hit it long. Man of the match today. Johansson - 4 - Rubbish. Awful distribution of the ball again, didn't look to get forward, wasted possession so many times. Sylla - 7 - Better, looked to take players on more than usual and it actually came off a lot today. Has a tendency to try too much though. Williams - 4 - Anonymous. Kisnorbo - 5 - Anonymous. Smith - 7 - Didn't have half as many opportunites as he should have to impress. Always did something positive when he was passed to, unfortunately some of his clever passes were wasted because our players were not on his wavelength. Dublin - 4 - Didn't do an awful lot with all the long balls. Hammond - 4 - Never looks like scoring. Subs: Tiatto - 5 - Better than Kisnorbo, but still rubbish. Hamill - 4 - Did nothing at all. Hume - 6 - Should never have been dropped for Elvis, it was clear that he should have come on earlier. Did ok.
dynamite foxes Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Douglas- 4 rubbish today Maybury- 6 been out of form all season Johansson- 6 improving in that decision Gerrbrand- 9 never put a foot wrtong, distrubution good and made one fantastic tackle. MCCarthy- 8 best game I have seen him play today Williams 5 anonymous again but tracked back Kisnorbo- 6 busy although he does give the ball away a lot. Sylla- 7 played really well 1st half. Smith- 8 he is going to be a real player. Dublin- 6 better than De Vries I think but he has no pace whatsoever Hammond- 5 can't get hold of the ball, should have scored with a header in the 1st half. Hume-8 so unlucky not to score and made an impact he has to start more. Tiatto- 5 distrubution poor Hammill- anonymous
mr potatohead Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Douglas 5 Maybury 5 Gerrbrand 6 McCarthy 7 Johannson 4 Sylla 5 Kisnorbo 4 Williams 4 Smith 6 Hammond 6 Dublin 5 Douglas is very Dodgy although he made a good save with his legs in the first half. Dublin's legs are gone can't run only good for set pieces .
Tommeh Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 5 Gerrbrand 8 Mcarthy 7 Johansson 6 Sylla 7 Smith 7 Williams 5 Kisnorbo 6 Dublin 5 Hammond 5 We missed joey Gudjonsson and De Vries Bad decision to drop Hume, he actually showed some intent to score when he came on ps Niemis save from Hume at the end was top draw - i thought we'd won it!!!!
Jimmy Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 5 ( at half time he would of struggled to make 4) Gerrbrand 8 solid all day, along with paddy we have the beginnings of a dominant cb paiing Mcarthy 7 Johansson 6 steady enough, though i'd still prefere sheehan Sylla 8 should of been replace by hume not hammil Smith 7 needs to demand the ball Williams 6 ok poor balls from kisnorbo all game Kisnorbo 4 drop him, he's not good enough for the reserves as a midfileder Dublin 4 cant hack it as a striker, should never have started Hammond 6 should of stayed on much more of a thret than dublin was or will be tiatto 5 headless chicken hammil did he even get a kick hume 6 not given enough time should of started alongside hammond we badly missed joey, hughes and mdv (a thing i never thought i'd say)
Bert Posted 5 November 2005 Posted 5 November 2005 Douglas 5 sort yourself out Maybury 5 looked a bit edgy, needs to start doing simple stuff Gerrbrand 8 excellent, solid a s a rock McCarthy 7 solid display again Johannson 5 Sylla 6 Kisnorbo 4 please get out of the team Williams 5 a few glimpses, can do better Smith 7 our most dangerous player Hammond 6 tries hard Dublin 6 good in the air, cant last a full 90 up front though
Thracian Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas 6 (I never feel sure of him) Maybury 6 (Inconsistent) Gerrbrand 8 (Immense) McCarthy 7.75 (Passion, involvement, lots of good things against difficult opposition) Nils 5.5 (Almost cost us an early goal, awkward, passing generally poor) Sylla 6 (No consequence as usual) Kisnorbo 5 (Overrun in the second half) Williams (5.5) (Little effect) Smith 7.5 (Smashing - real skill - but not given enough of the ball) Dion 6.5 (Always involved, always trying, ran himself to a standstill) Hammond 5 (Close control diabolical, no goals, again, no consequence generally) Subs: Hume 6.5 (Always busy, always a threat. Why leave the guy out?) Tiatto 4.5 (Made one chance but otherwise dire) Hammill 4 (Little boy lost)
lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Some very bizare ratings so far. douglas 5.8 did ok, but flapped abit maybury 5.6 wasnt what we know of him macarthy 6.6 slightly nervous, but a cool cat gerrbrand 6.8 a controlled dude, a tad slow on the ball, but more to come for sure johanson 7.1 once again solid at the back, out of position, nothing got by his new LB position. what he also does is help out at CB. the only thing he cant do, is get forward and matter, thats why we need sheehan. sylla 5.3 did ok, but didnt breakthrough their defense, which is his job. kisnorbo 5.1 did ok, but doesnt do what we need him to. williams 1.1 nuff said, get rid. smith 7.4 man of the match, showed life, winger trickery, took players on, tackled inteligently (which is not a winger strength) got the crowd going and nearly scored. dublin -1,000,000 sort his pension out, i dont wana see his bony arse in a city shirt ever again. hammond 5.7 ran for dubs, ran for our attack, and ran for himself. didnt get great service, hard luck mate. SOMEBODY GIVE THIS GUY A FOCKING CHANCE!! hume 3.6 not on long enough tiatto 3.3 as above, and look up b4 passing the ball, dreary me. hamill 4.3 has smith-like life when he gets going.

lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Williams 1.1?? Dublin -1,000,000?? It is my opinion that they were/ARE awful, and that we need to do something about their ability when playing for lcfc. 1.1 means sell him if its possible to man city, and -1,000,000 means sack the dude before we end up in a relegation fight, and possibly going to the dungeon of the notts forest league. In short, we cannot afford also rans, and thats just what they are, along with wilcox, de lump and joey.

Cobbo Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Lush, you're a toss piece. Douglas - 6 Maybury - 4 McCarthy - 7 Gerrbrand - 9 Johansson - 7 Sylla - 7 Kisnorbo - 6 Williams - 4 Smith - 7.5 Hammond - 6 Dublin - 6 Subs: Tiatto - 5 Hamill - 5 Hume - 8 Ah well.
lush Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Lush, you're a toss piece. I think we should change the name of our club to lushter city.
Stuliasz Posted 6 November 2005 Author Posted 6 November 2005 Lush whilst I respect everyone's own opinion, I strongly disagree with yours and especially your opinion about Dublin. He was voted our best player over the past month and was consistely in the top 5 best players every game. Surely there are other players who deserve more criticism than him at the moment??
Guest Gist Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas 6 Maybury 4 not playing well just lately and wasted a free kick in a dangerous area Gerrbrand 8 Brilliant game glad to see him playing regular now McCarthy 7 On form and cutting out his fouls Johansson 5 Considering his lack of pace i thought he coped well although not the best game hes had Smith 6/7 Shown great skill when he got the ball shame he wasnt used much Kisnorbo 5 Average game Williams 3 Has potential but is the laziest player! Sylla 6 Improving but still refuses to use all his pace Dublin 4 Won headers again but definitly better at the back Hammond 4 he needs to work on his shooting he has pace and skill but is no threat in front of goal
Louise Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas - 6 - Made a good save with his feet in the first half and certainly has passion for the game (joking around with the ball boys, talking to the defence etc) - usual goalkeeper madness as well - but again he’s too uncertain when reaching for crosses etc. and doesn’t seem to be able to get a firm grip on the ball. I wouldn’t drop him for Henderson yet as I don’t think he’s made any glaring mistakes since the Sheffield Utd game but his position is something to think about. Maybury - 4 - What on earth has happened to him? I mean really!? He was fantastic last season, looked like Levein’s best buy. He’d charge up the wing, put in crosses, and at the other end would be solid. Now he’s all over the place, I can’t count the number of times he got turned yesterday. He did try and support the attack sometimes which is why his mark isn’t lower. Stearman’s mistakes pale in comparison to some of Maybury’s yesterday, bring him back. McCarthy - 7.5 - Quickly becoming one of my favourite players. He’s cut out the bookings now that he has the calmer role-models of Johansson, Gerrbrand and Dublin (!)... rather than Dabizas. But he’s still kept that passion that we all love to see. He can also pass it around too, which is nice to see. Gerrbrand - 8 - Cool, calm and collected, a bit like Johansson but with more pace and better passing ability. After not featuring for most of the season so far it seemed like too much to hope that we’d have a player out injured that could come back and change the side so much (a bit like imagining that Lee Morris will come back and be our 20-goals-a-season striker - well, almost!) but it seems he’s brought real stability to the defence, and looks like another expert buy from Levein (worth all that haggling it would seem). Johansson - 6 - Nope, still not a left-back. He’s obviously been told to get forward more which he tried to do yesterday, however this meant we were exposed at the back a little too much as he’s not got enough pace to get back in time. Is he too good to be left out? He can’t play at centre-back at the moment, but he’s not good enough to play at left-back. While we keep clean sheets the back four is not going to change, but I do wonder how good it could be if we played with a proper left-back... (of course that sounds strange to say as I want a centre-back at right back!) Sylla - 6- Usual Sylla performance. One minute he was cutting inside, or crossing the ball in, the next he was being bundled off the ball or nowhere to be seen. I don’t know what we can do with Sylla or his position as I’m not sure we really have anyone better - Hamill is also pretty inconsistent and less physically strong. There must be a way of making him perform consistently but I just can’t see what it is, short of us winning every game, then he’d want to turn it on. Williams - 5 - Another frustrating performance from Gareth. The odd touch here and there looked good but he did nothing. He was out of the game. Hopefully the people on phone-ins etc who have been clamouring for his return (and slagging off Levein for not playing him) can now see why he’s been out of the side. I don’t want to dislike Gareth, I think he’s got the skill and he’s got age on his side, but I just don’t understand why he doesn’t perform. Even if he’s not happy here you’d think he’d at least think ‘well if I play well I can go in January to a Premiership club’. Levein seems to have him sussed now, I’d be very surprised if Gareth is playing for us next season. Kisnorbo - 4 - Annoying. He has no vision or concept of intelligent play, he bumbles around for a bit with the ball the passes to the nearest player... sometimes that’s even one in a blue shirt. To his credit he does run around a lot so the effort is there but he is not a footballer. Even his tackles look funny... Smith - 6 - Showed some good skill when he was on the ball, but didn't do enough off it. I know he's a favourite amongst some people, I'm not saying he's a bad player, just inexperienced. Once he’s given the ball more I expect him to shine. Hammond - 5 - I think what I said when we signed Elvis is standing the test of time. He's a quicker Trevor Benjamin. He's a nice lad, he puts in the effort, he's quick, but he doesn’t have that extra bit of skill in front of goal that strikers need. He shoots at the goalie, he misses clear opportunities and he seems very nervous on the ball. He was very quiet in the second half yesterday. I'd keep him as a sub player, someone to add a little more pace in the last 20 minutes, until he's scored a few more goals, then I might let him back into the side. Hume has 5 starts, 1 goal, Hammond now has 10 starts, 1 goal. I know who I prefer up front. Dublin - 6 - He started off fairly brightly in the first 10-15 minutes, but after that I can't say that I noticed him much. His pace is definitely the issue, despite his good play in defence his pace always held us back, and in attack its the same. He does a lot of work outside the box but does hardly anything inside. Come back de Vries... Subs: Tiatto - 6 - Looked ok when he came on in the middle, probably is his best position. Still wouldn’t start him ahead of Gudjonsson though. How did he become club Captain again? Hamill - 4 - Poor Joe didn't do much.... didn't do anything really.... he wasn’t on for long though I suppose... Hume - not on long enough to rate, looked sharp when he came on though, great header in the dying moments though.
Durnerz Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas 6 - Made a good save but still very indicisive, if you're coming out then ****ing well come! Maybury 4 - Dire, got turned so much and even stepped aside and let Fuller pass him, god knows whats going on with him at the moment but he needs to see a surgeon along with Williams for a "finger from arse" removal operation. Mccarthy 7 - Did well apart from one lapse in concentration when he let the ball back to Douglas with Walcott behind him then proceeded to blame Maybury but he is improving. Gerrbrand 8 - Solid display and looks the part, big, strong and quick as well. Reads the game superbly. Johansson 6 - Did his job defensively but still doesn't offer much going forward. Sylla 5 - Apart from the first 5-10 mins what exactly did he do apart from slip over and coast through the game? Williams 4 - Not played in the right position, he's not a defensively minded player Levein so why play him in front of the back 4. Kisnorbo 4 - Energetic my arse, another one who looked a yard short, he cant pass, he cant tackle, so what exactly have we got him for? Bring back Joey. Smith 6 - Looked lively on the ball at times but often tries too much when just a simple give and go would have been all. He's probably used to playing in front of defenders who 99% of the time win the ball and give it to him so he doesn't have to work at tracking back, its a bit different round our way, son. Dublin 5 - Poor display from Dion, Looked tired. Hammond 4 - Didn't use his pace to get into the channels early enough giving saints time to see what he was planning, wasted a good headed chance and scuffed another, poor. Subs: Tiatto - 5, Hammill - 4, Hume - 6
Scow Posted 6 November 2005 Posted 6 November 2005 Douglas - 6 What was he doing in the first half? First of all him and McCarthy get in a mix up, then he throws the ball out to Johansson, who had a player at his back. Saying that, he claimed most things well, especially in the second half when Southampton hit us on the break. I was expecting Douglas to dive early and miss/foul the striker, but he actually anticipated it well for once. Maybury - 4 Fuller and others found it too easy against him. He wasn't strong enough in a few challenges and was found wanting on a number of occasions. Distribution was poor as well. McCarthy - 7 Certainly looks a lot more composed and cultured on the ball. Held a good line with Gerrbrand et al and was aggressive in his challenges. Looks like the McCarthy of last season. Gerrbrand - 8 His pace and anticipation ensured we could play a high line against a pacey Southampton forward line. Very calm and composed on the ball. Johansson - 6 Seems to be adjusting better to the left back position with every game, but his lack of mobility is telling. Caught out a few times in the second half on the counter attack. Sylla - 5 Started off the game well, but his performance degenerated as the game wore on - a familiar pattern throughout the season. He's guilty of holding on to the ball too long and then wasting the opportunity to cross. Williams - 4 Abysmal. Off the pace and didn't seem bothered. A few good turns and flciks can't disguise how poor he was. I desperately want him to prove his worth, but his attitude won't allow him to do that. Kisnorbo - 5 Ran around a lot, but struggled to keep up with the Southampton midfield. Passing a bit wayward at times too. Smith - 7 Hardly had a touch in the first 30 minutes, but he got himself involved as the game progressed. He was prepared to take players on and make things happen. He needs a natural full back to help him further. Hammond - 5 Did a lot of good things in the first half up until the point of shooting. Anonymous in the second half. Dublin - 5 His inclusion encourages the hoof ball. Won a few headers, but what else? Subs: Twatto - 5 His lack of positional discipline was exposed by Southampton - luckily not punished. Hamill - 4 Can't actually remember him doing anything. Hume - 7 Made a difference when he came on, shame he wasn't given longer.
