cisono Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 Young Foxes Shock Spurs Leicester City's reserve side produced one of their best performances of the season to date when they overcame a strong Spurs line up at Stevenage Borough FC on Tuesday night. Clive Allen's Tottenham team contained Premiership regulars such as Andy Reid, Sean Davis and Michael Brown, while the City second string included youngsters Iain Hume, Peter Gilbert, Richard Stearman and Joe Hamill. But the Foxes would spring a something of a shock on the night by overturning their top-flight opponents at Broadhall Way - substitute Adam Wykes netting an Elvis Hammond cross with 16 minutes of the game remaining to take the spoils. Speaking after the game, coach Kenny Black said: "We did great. Our attitude was excellent and the youngsters can be proud to have beaten a very strong Spurs line up. "In all fairness we have rode our luck in the first half. Spurs had a number of chances, but out defence has held strong and we have got the rewards for our efforts after the break. "We showed really good spirit all the way through the game - even when the fourth official held up the board to say there were five extra minutes to be played at the end of the game our heads didn't drop. It was a really gutsy performance. "Adam Wykes has come on as a substitute in the second half and he must have scored with what could have only been his first or second touch. It was a great finish. "The young lads will take great heart from this win and it looks like we are now moving in the right direction." City: Logan, Norval, Sheehan, King (Hammond, 46), Stearman, Gilbert, Chambers (Tejan-Sie, 62), Hume, Gradel (Wykes, 72), Hamil, Muggleton. Subs not used: Cisak, Franklin. Spurs: Cerny, Pamarot, Lee, Kelly, Daniels, McKenna (Barcham, 63), Davis, Brown, Hallfredsson (O'Hara, 63), Barnard, Reid. Subs not used: Forecast, Mills, Riley. Strong defence eh? Well, with Sheehan, Stearman and Gilbert... I am not too surprised... ehm just noticed that Logan was in the goal... Hume did not score - wonder what the game was like for him. Also glad to see Hammond linking up well there...
Scow Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 Good to see that Gilbert got another 90 minutes - I'm hoping he's given another chance soon, although the defence is doing well with the current line up.
Hitesh Posted 8 November 2005 Posted 8 November 2005 I knew the score earlier but didnt have a report so didnt post! Good win for the reserves! Just hope Hume and Hammond played well together. Would have been nice to see them get on the scoresheet for confidence but they have 2 weeks to work on it!

Ric Flair Posted 9 November 2005 Posted 9 November 2005 Ashamed to say I am not up on our youngsters, who is this Wykes geezer then? Any good? I have to admit I don't know much about Wykes either. I've seen him play once or twice but never really noticed him.
