Deathside Posted 17 November 2005 Posted 17 November 2005 Peter Edward Baker. (Ginger Baker) Mainly because in his younger days he trained and competed as a racing cyclist before, presumably thinking, 'sod this for a game of soldiers, I wanna be a drummer'. Also, he was in Cream and Cream rock. So there. In a white room with black curtains by the station
The People's Hero Posted 17 November 2005 Posted 17 November 2005 Top tune! I like 'Strange Brew' a lot too. 'Sunshine of Your Love' is playing now.
Deathside Posted 17 November 2005 Posted 17 November 2005 Top tune! I like 'Strange Brew' a lot too. 'Sunshine of Your Love' is playing now. I only know White Room because Hugh Cornwall (The Stranglers) covered it on his solo album (Nosferatu)
Deathside Posted 17 November 2005 Posted 17 November 2005 Worth a listen? It's not exactly what I'd call Punk Rock - But I thought it was a brilliant album - Don't know how easy it would be to get hold of today (I have it on vinyl) - Think it was released in '79 It's not exactly a solo album as it's Hugh Cornwall and Robert Williams (Captain Beefheart drummer) - It's meant to be their soundtrack to the original Nosferatu film - It's quite dark Just seen there's a vinyl copy on ebay.co.uk
Deathside Posted 17 November 2005 Posted 17 November 2005 Captain Beefheart Not really familiar with Captain Beefheart - I'm sure Peely used to play 'em though?
The People's Hero Posted 17 November 2005 Posted 17 November 2005 Yeah I think so. One of my mates at uni used to like Captain Beefheart and it's brought back a few good memories!
FNQ Posted 18 November 2005 Posted 18 November 2005 I had breakfast with Cozy Powell at Marcus Studios Cozy was recording a solo album and an ELP album - I was recording with KLF Have to say he was the most genuine musician I met at Marcus - Sadly, people who are big names in music tend to have their heads firmly wedged up their own árses Nice one. Although I'd say he was a pretty big name! Only the good die young...
Cat Burger Posted 18 November 2005 Posted 18 November 2005 Travis Barker of Blink/Transplants deserves a mention.
