It would be nice when this isn't even an issue. Fair play to the young man.

I wonder what the reaction would be if a leading Premier League player "came out"? I expect the media would be in a frenzy for a while, but I wonder if your average fan would be bothered one way or the other? I mean, would it really be that much of a big deal?

I guess the most obvious manifestation of a backlash would be on said player's social media with the same sort of morons who send abusive racist messages to the likes of Marcus Rashford probably sending homophobic abuse to the player, although a quick scan of Josh's twitter reveals a refreshingly positive response to him.

I think your about right. In the stadium and within the club I really don’t think it will be much of an issue. I think that the amount of people who aren’t bothered will far outnumber those who feel they need to comment. The media will make an issue but I think in today’s day and age it will be mostly positive. Where the hatred will show,  as with most things, is social media. Though it may be another step in forcing the social media companies to start to take action against such people and accepting some responsibility for the bile that is spouted on such platforms.

Just seen him interviewed on BBC Breakfast. He said a weight has been lifted from him and last night he had the best night's sleep ever. It shouldn't need to be news, but sadly in professional football it still is.
