Went and read some Benfica comments about him - lots of negativity, lots of comparisons to Seferovic. Seen him described as a high energy, smart player who makes a lot of runs and presses hard, but who is technically lacking and misses a lot of open chances.

Sounds like Porto fan’s assessment of Abdul.

Would love to see how we could manage to mess this up

Rudders somehow deleting the OHL Leuven contact phone number in his phone and not being able to find the contact again to give them a call?

So transfer embargo is lifted ... did I miss the Fatawu announcement? Surely we don't need a new coach to rubber stamp that one...?

It is interesting, considering the Sporting gaffa confirmed he'd been sold a month or so back. My guess is they're coinciding his announcement with a kit launch perhaps?

Quite possibly. Or delayed to appease us when we realise no-one else is coming?

More likely because we're pushing his purchase into the next accounting period and can't announce a transfer that hasn't actually happened yet.

So the Sporting manager announced it yet it's not done? ok....

Has the Sporting manager announced that it's been done, or has he said that it will be done? And when did he make these comments?

We may well have an agreement in place to sign Fatawu on 1 July, but if we have he won't be our player until then. The club is probably reluctant to 'announce' we've signed a player before we've done so, which I think is fair enough.

Amorin on Fatawu's move to Leicester "“We're going to make money from it. Our project ends there. Players who don't adapt so much here, but with talent, will move to other places and give us added value. And these gains, little by little, can help us keep the best players. I am very happy for Fatawu, he has always behaved very well here.” - 3rd May,2024.

There's your evidence. We're arguing semantics, its done. I find it strange that a deal can be done, but its when the official Twitter announcement is made is when you're saying its becomes part of that accounting period. If an obligation in a contract is triggered, it's done :D

No, I'm saying that even though the obligation to buy has been triggered, we've probably reached an agreement with Sporting that we won't pay them the transfer fee until 1 July. If that's the case, he won't officially be our player until then. Maybe the club is wary of announcing it before he officially joins because it might raise suspicions that we've signed him in this accounting period, and they want to avoid any possibility of it being seen that way? This might be a bit over-cautious, but that might be the thinking.

But like you, I think it's done. And I expect the announcement to be made on 1 July ;)

the deal would have been structured so that we sign him in the new accounting period, which is july. So it’s likely to be announced in july 1st. There will be no signings until then at the earliest

What a refreshing outlook on transfers that don’t settle. Rudkin holds them, maybe loans them out, doesn’t let them leave for a fee and then they leave on a free.
