It amazes me how easy it is to get tickets for (most, not all) foreign games.  It makes it easy for fans (and whilst they aren't popular in the uk, tourists) to get to a game.  Im relatively new to games abroad but both times getting tickets was a doddle with fan friendly clubs.  

Leicester city could do with taking note.

Deffo worth a visit, very impressed with Boston's new stadium. I did like york street and this stadium maybe not as good as york street but this new home certainly a stadium to be proud of. It's very similar in some ways to AFC Fylde or Burton Albion, a bit of combination of both. The stadium does seem ready for the EFL and for new ground it already as good bit of character. Surrounding area is pretty new as well, costa coffee and a burger king all built next door. The only issue with the new ground as for many it's quite a way out of Boston and in fact it's outside the town boarder. It was good 45 minute walk to the stadium, better off getting taxi if coming from town or going to the train station. 

 

I was planning to go Worcester City next to visit Sixways, was looking forward to that. But it's been announced that the fixture is taking place at Malvern for some reason. So going to look elsewhere.. Racing Club Warwick playing Bromsgrove Sporting in the Fa Trophy I'm considering as well Gloucester City v Stafford Rangers. Still working out which to do.

Sixways is a bit crap - it's in the middle of nowhere, very lifeless. Worcester Rugby still play there. 

Malvern Town is a standard sort of ground but a great setting with the hills in the background and decent pubs nearby. 

Both of the others just okay - Gloucester have a decent atmosphere but very modern ground.

Malvern looks good, saving that for when Malvern Town play at home at some point. Gloucester is nearing the appeal has never actually been to the city, always thought of seeing the tigers their but been priced out in terms of the tickets. Typical the costing plays who factor where I go, I did look at Sutton United head down to London way. But again, not cheap.

Slight change of plan. Dunfermline game postponed due to call ups. Triple room at spoons booked in Dunfermline for the weekend. Luckily nearby Raith Rovers at home to Livingston so will go to that game instead, hopefully that won't be affected by international requirements.

Udinese - Hellas Verona - Chievo done this weekend 

 

Udine was a very nice small city. Germanic feel with nearby Austria (yes they even have regular Austrian season ticket holders). Stadium way out. Three parts modern but this absolute huge stand from the Italia 90 build still in situ. I really enjoyed it despite Winks and Yerry Mina (and Paolo Maldini's son a week after drink driving scoring the winner). Udine was a big surprise as a place - felt like very few British tourists get up there but a cracking day destination. 

 

Into Verona for Derby della Veneto. I'd underestimated how good the Bentegodi is - very much in that Italia 90 era and now it's very tired. But some atmosphere has they completed a 2-1 comeback. The level of noise was testiment given Vicenza fans were banned. Real buzz around the ground but they have a reputation for a reason. I'd say it was most bloke crowd I've ever seen in Italy while I saw a bloke with a huge 88 tattoo on his neck and I don;t think it was because I shared the same birth year as him. 

 

Chievo played at the back of Bentegodi. Serie D on their way back. I'd say a crowd around 800 to 1000. Had an ultras section with full pyro etc. Ground was nothing special but a real non-league sort of feel. Alberto Paloschi was on the bench for them, didn't come. 

 

Valencia next - I'd love to squeeze one more in before the year is out. Italy always makes me immediately look at Italy again. Frosinone - Napoli double would be great or either of the two Islands.

Thats a proper trip.  Italia 90 was really what hooked me on football.  I was a n amazed seeing how different their grounds were to ours back then 👍

Had a good trip to Fife this weekend.

Raith Rovers 0 Livingston 2 on Friday night where we got talking to the club historian, John, who took us on an impromptu tour before the game, changing rooms excluded for obvious reasons. He pointed out many photos & news clippings on display including photos of the Raith rovers team post WW1 which included former Leicester player & manager Johnny Duncan who we bought from Raith in 1922 & he lived in Leicester until his death in 1966.

John also relayed a great story of the best night of his life when Raith were 1-0 winners away against Bayern Munich in the UEFA cup in 1995. Great stuff.

Less eventful but a great game on Saturday went to East Fife 0 Clydebank 2

whete the non league visitors were more dominant than the scoreline suggests.

Very friendly locals who were delighted that we had travellsd up fron Leicester to see their team.

Along with a Saturday night on the lash in Dunfermline this was a great weekend at 2 of Scotlands lesser visited grounds.

Sorted tickets for the main game, 9pm Saturday kick off. Could do Villarreal at 4pm but can’t really arsed for the rush on the train. Other games aren’t the most helpful so going basketball on Sunday night. They like a Sunday morning slot at third and fourth tier so fingers crossed something comes together. 
 

Off Lewes in November, the famous Dripping Pan. Seriously considering one of the beach huts

Nice, I have 2.5 days leave left this year so was looking at a midweek city game and then Valencia to use it up.

I have been to Lewes, not sure why it is so famous but it's worth a look for the pubs alone.

Found York's ground to be a step too far in regards to modern stadium locations. 

 

It was plonked right on top of a retail park similar to Fosse Park, the ground had no real identity at all and lacked even more character than grounds that have similar set ups.

 

Great day out though and there wasn't a bad seat in the house, but the ground itself was very disappointing. Shame they couldn't have sorted something closer to such a great city centre.
