He's genuinely two footed. Used to play mainly on the left in the 23's/21's and at Doncaster where he moved into the centre of the back three only to cover injury.

Presumably he's been played on the left a lot as left footers are rarer. He can do a good job on either side or in the middle of a three.

Do you think he's a different type to Doyle? He's a ball playing CB, not that he got the chance to show that at Rochdale. Donny wanted him for that reason though.

I thought he was less effective in a back three for our academy. Think it was 2 years ago when we mixed it up from a back 4 to a back 3 with him at RCB and he wasn't as dominant.

I know we don't play a back 3 as such but Doyle's role with an invested full back the other side covers a lot of the left side of defence and on ovmccasion going forwards, I've not seen Nelson do that before but I know he's comfortable playing off his left foot.

I've been waiting 2 years for him to get a chance so I'd not be against him getting opportunities.

Agree with all 4. Why Hamer and McAtee bothered for one season in the Prem getting absolutely bent over every week is beyond me. Sheff Utd are absolute manure.

McAtee especially IMO would have been better off starring here for us, going up and further increasing his stock and possibly going on to bigger and better things if we struggled.

Isn't he an #8?  He might have looked at our squad and seen we were well stocked there?

There'll be a destabilising of the squad anyway, like there was this summer. We've another 8+ players out of contract and a few loan players. In these instances it's about the effectiveness of the manager whom is still at his optimum in getting his ideas across quickly to his players.

It's rare for teams to come up and comfortably stay up in their first season spending conservatively, certainly not in recent years anyway. Fulham managed to do so last season but you look at Forest and Villa in recent years and it's startling.

We still have a nucleus of established PL players but we're Maddison and Barnes genuine quality down already and we need an elite finisher if we harbour any intentions of being anything other than PL strugglers.

£100m minimum but I'd say over two seasons more like £200m. Those that spend that when they come up tend to be because they've got so much FFP wriggle room as they've not maxed themselves out in recent years (victims of our own success).

Let's hope this training ground musters up some quality from the academy.

I think by next season, if we lose all the players out of contract, we should have plenty of wiggle room with FFP again - i'm guessing the % of our total wages just on vardy, vesty, nacho and ndidi is quite significant.

Also, if you look at brighton's spending since they came up in 2017, it's less than 12 other teams, and not much more than leeds and forest.  So it's not a given that teams have to spend big - I know there remains some scepticism about our board, but they've shown they are decent at building teams on a budget (it's the depth spending they've struggled with).

What's very interesting is watching Burnley playing the same way as us in the Prem, and whilst theyre looking good whilst in the rythm, they're looking like they'll struggle to get results. They heavily rely on their keeper and the wingers to score goals as we do, so if we go up, will this Pep set up with our wingers be good enough, or will we buy new players because I can't see us changing the way we play, this is it under Enzo.

Yes, we'd be able to spend but to get us to the squad level of previous years will cost us a fortune IMO.

Sure, but my point is that i don't believe they'll expect or even try to do that in one season.

I think we'll see a few departing players replaced - say they all leave - it's fair to say that smithies won't be replaced, praet won't be replaced and albrighton won't be replaced - so that leaves nacho and vardy, who we'll need to replace, hamza and nelson, who should be fairly cheap to resign, and vestergaard - who is a bit of an enigma right now.  So, that's, say, three players - we'd probably need to strengthen at the back - so, i'd say 4 or 5 players at most - at least for this year.

Agreed... I think he's no different to Doyle with the exception he could play left or right... Maybe in the middle? Doyle has had the benefit of a big club loans system as opposed to Leicester's not so great system.

Really good point this, which I've never really thought about. Look at Boro this season, they lost all their loan players and are in the relegation zone!

Same as keeping our core players and the need slowly transition to those who can carry the club’s legendary culture shaped by Pearson. We still have Vardy and Albrighton, but they will soon be gone so we need to groom a new generation of die hard Leicester players that can carry the baton. This is not easy, so the longer Vardy and Albrighton can stay to ensure the transition is done well the better. Remember that not every club had the 5000-1 premier league win we had and that belief is very very hard to pass down.

In this regard just remember loan players come and go.

I don't see that at all, I think we already have - on paper - a better squad than the three teams that went up.

I also believe that psychologically, we aren't going to be like luton or sheffield where the PL is unchartered waters.  And also, if we go up playing the way we are, or hope to be by the end of the season, it'll be a massive advantage over perennial strugglers like wolves and bournemouth.

I think maybe 3-5 players at 15-25M so about 100M max; considering we spent 45M this year and made a 61M profit, that's a relatively reasonable ask.

I don't see us going up to the 218M we spent in 2018, or even the 167 we spent the year after.  The club has always understood a measured approach, last time we went up we spent 72M - we know how it works, and we'll strengthen as and where it is necessary.

Well Burnley got over a hundred points and lost 3 so its a doddle then

But we aren't Burnley.  You've missed my point entirely.
