The main concern would be an over-reliance on loans and not being able to keep the squad together if we go up, a bit like Forest last year who had to take a throw enough / stick approach in the market as a result. But yes, for now, we've got the mix just about right. So far the loanees are just the spice - the backbone of our success so far are players which are ours. If we were relying on Casadei and Yunus every game I'd be concerned - Doyle is the only one who is a mainstay so far.

Really good point this, which I've never really thought about. Look at Boro this season, they lost all their loan players and are in the relegation zone!

Add Doyle to that list, by no means the finished product but yesterday showed what he's all about. Putting his body on the line a fair few times - Morgan-esque performance!

He's 19.

I actually dread to think what overpaid,  journeyman dross we'd have gone for if we'd stayed up by the skin of our teeth. This is the rebuild we needed, but it was never going to be feasible in the bright lights of the Premier League circus.

Fully agree. Doyle was superb last night.

It's been better than I thought it would be. Hermansen I said at the time was a very good signing and he looks frankly way better than this level. Winks as well I think we've played a bit of a blinder with as we've managed to acquire a player who is to be honest, a top half Premier League level player, simply due to being at his lowest ebb - that was very smart from us.

Mavididi as well I think is too good for this league. I'm not convinced he'll take to the PL if we go up but he profiled well in Ligue 1 which is a stronger league than this, so no surprise to me that while he is flawed, he's still going to be good enough for this division. Doyle's another good signing even if he has made a couple of errors.

Too early to say about Coady, Cannon, Casadei, Yunus and Fatawu although the latter is very fun and I have a good feeling about some of the others. I think what's the understated part of our recruitment is that a lot of them fit the style of play. I feel this was one of Rodgers' biggest undoings - he signed players who weren't capable of what he actually wanted.

Right now it looks like we've aced the transfer window but we need to remember the level we're at. Also, this perceived success might reduce if we go back up. We had to win 7 of the last 9 games in 2014/15 to stay up, despite housing several players good enough to lead us to the biggest sporting achievement in history the year after.

Look at Burnley, the likes of Manuel Benson were phenomenal at Championship level last year and looked a bargain at £3m or whatever they paid, if he flops this year though that may soon be forgotten.

We'll need a huge overhaul next summer too if we go up, it's very difficult to build quickly and get a high level of hits in the PL but you have to to survive.

I do think there is a good chance that we could get Doyle and Casadei back on loan next season if we do go up and want them, possibly a chance of Doyle on a permanent

If they play a certain amount we are obligated to buy Yunus and Fatawu if we go up as well

Not sure this is really such a concern.  Firstly, we aren't in any way 'over-relying' on loan players.  Doyle is the only one playing with any regularity.  As for the others: yunus and fatawu seem to be available and very affordable should we wish to make them permanent signings, and Casadai doesn't look like he's going to push out ndidi (or even yunus) right now.  So, if we do go up it shouldn't be too hard to bring in replacements for doyle and casadai (even if he does become an important player) - if we aren't able to sign them permanently.

If we do go up I think we'll have a basic core that would be one of the strongest ever promoted sides (depending on certain players resigning), so i think we'd have more than enough to stay up, especially with how confidently we're playing.  I don't think the club would go out and spunk money like forest and villa did and, frankly, i don't think they'd need to - the club's policy has always to build gradually, and with a few smart signings, combined with a core of players with top flight experience, we'd have enough to pick off at least half a dozen of the worst PL teams.

I mean on reflection hats off to Glover and Enzo for the ins this summer.

Mads - A* he is clearly not a £5million player, trajectory he is on could go for 50million plus.

Winks - Another A* player who looks like he’s a class above everyone else and importantly seems to raise others game around him. Selfless and mobile unlike others previously.

Stephy - can be electric. All in all a great signing and again looks way above the £6mil we paid out for him. A little more composure and he will fly.

Fatawu - looks good, looks like he could be very very good. Again I think will be worth way more than we paid for him.

There’s others I have not mentioned but it’s a rarity this is said - hats off to recruitment.

Ah, the old - 'when it all goes wrong, blame rudkin; when it all goes right, it's because of others'.

Yeah there's a nucleus of solid PL players but we'd need 6-8 additions minimum but some clubs come up and need double that or more.

Rudkin deserves credit for any players signed for reasonable transfer fees and hopefully sensible wages. He gets neither criticism nor praise for thr players themselves, unless he pulled off a masterstroke convincing the club or player to join.

Perhaps, i think it will depend on who stays and who resigns next summer - but most teams buy half a dozen players these days, so i think the club will be ok with that level of signings -  a refresh, rather than a rebuild.

Sure, but people on here have blamed him for everything at some point!

Besides, no one he signed was necessarily on an unreasonable salary or unreasonably expensive for the level we were playing at (ie. in/pushing for europe), they seem mental now because we got relegated which was the fault of the manager and players.

He's a key part of the recruitment process, even if he didn't chose the players he's responsible for them putting pen to paper - so we can't talk about a successful window without including Rudkin.

Is Fatawu our player?

Very good recruitment, and as others have said, fit the style of play. It's a much more efficient and effective way to recruit. I also think there is a great balance of youth and experience as well. Looking all Rosey at the moment. But it's a long season, and maybe too early to full judge.

One thing's for certain, I feel sooo much more comfortable with Mads in goal.

I agree this this, but re Benson and Burnley in general, but I don’t think we would struggle to acclimatise like they have. If Enzo can re-energise and tie down players like Ndidi and some of the other PL players in the squad then that should make it slightly easier. I had this conversation with a Burnley fan today.

I also think some of our signings have a higher ceiling than perhaps we think at the moment. Obviously we will need to strengthen again should we piss this league, but I think we’re in a much stronger position than almost all other promoted teams in history.

We have an obligation to buy Fatawu if we get promoted and an option to buy Akgun that we can trigger. €17m and €9m respectively.

Also I swear Doyle was rumoured to be a permanent signing right up to the wire, and I also think it was us that wanted it as a loan rather than a purchase. If true we'd probably be able to buy him if we go up.
