Hi all, I'm looking for some help from fans of LCWFC.

I'm a publisher and writer, currently preparing an illustrated fan yearbook covering the leading women's teams in the UK. It's designed to introduce new supporters to their local club, give a bit of background on the matchday experience, fan culture and history. I want to give a really positive write-up to every team featured, and be as representative as possible of existing supporters' views and perspectives. I've had a pretty good response from fans of most WSL teams, but as yet I haven't had anything from Leicester fans.

I would be so grateful if two or three of you would be willing to take a few minutes to complete this online questionnaire (and maybe ask two or three match-going family or friends if they would too):

https://docs.google.com/forms/d/e/1FAIpQLSfmzhvKqvDSlKsvtJWsFWCvvUM2BpYwk8fiTHDOBAQ6gAZB-Q/viewform

There will be a namecheck in the book for everyone who responds, and the first five from every team will get a free copy of the book when it's published.

By the way, specific to Leicester I'd really like to know a little bit more about the formation of the team in 2004 - who were the main people responsible for it, and any players and moments of particular note from the first decade or so. I've found details a bit sketchy through my research so far, so if any of you have been supporting the women from the early days and would be willing to share some of your memories, I'd love to hear from you - either through discussion here or drop me an email at [email protected]

Thank you in advance for any help you can offer,

David Moloney

Just seen that the Men's team season ticket renewal has been done, ect...

Does anyone know when the women's renewal will be?

The club don’t care about the men’s team let alone the women’s team

Heard a few surprising U turns in the last couple of days concerning our players, teams not willing to pay fees/compensation and others out of contract not had offers elsewhere that they expected to get, so it seems they will be staying put for now.

What's going on with falling WSL attendances?

That article has brought out some Taliban-style types who delight in flaunting their hostility to women's sport in general, and football in particular.

But while the England team continues to be widely followed, at club level the game has become stagnant, with Chelsea winning every season, the usual suspects battling for minor places, teams like City content just to stay in the league (reminiscent of the men's teams of past eras) and promoted clubs not able to bridge the gap between the leagues.

In short, the WSL has become too predictable and it's not a surprise some are losing interest.

As I've said many times it's just a carbon copy of the PL or will be. That's how it was set up it was inevitable.

Rather than letting it continue to organically grow with more support and exposure they went for the money by tagging it on to the PL teams

Some of it was down to Bristol City, who were very well supported, being replaced by the not so big following of Crystal Palace.

At Leicester the crowds are around 2,000 but the Arsenal, Man Utd and Chelsea games attract increased interest due to the Lionesses and those sides have good away support.

Personally, I did all 22 games with Leicester and found it quite a chore, if it wasn’t for the fact I just wanted to complete the set I’d have probably given up around February.

The gulf is widening, the Lionesses setup sees them have the same squad every game and the quality at both club and international level just isn’t that good.

More women need to support it for starters.

Great news, tie them down for a year or two to keep our foundations, build on top of that with a couple of decent new signings and I will be a lot more enthused about the new season.

Trouble is getting the club to sort it out.

Yeah, don't get me wrong, it's still a big "IF", but there's hope.

As we know with our club, its the hope that kills you most times, but I'll remain optimistic for now.

Not many from our club that are going to feature i don't think, just Cain off the top of my head...

But transfers aren't really as prevalent in the women's game compared to the men's, more often than not clubs look for free agents first. At least outside of those in the top 4-5.

Takarada has left the club.

That's a shame, I did like her, but out of all of those out of contract she's probably one that I'm least fussed about loosing.

Assuming that Sao and Momiki are relatively close, being national teammates and coming from the same club to Leicester, I hope this doesn't sway Momiki to leave...

Expansion to the league is all but confirmed then. Its probably the best case scenario to be fair.

In summary, next season;

- Top 2 of WSL2 get automatic promotion

- Bottom of WSL gets a playoff with 3rd place from WSL2

Then the season after the permanent structure will be that:

- WSL2 winner gets promotion

- Bottom of WSL gets relegated

- WSL2 runner up and 2nd Bottom side of WSL have a play-off

Im happy with that, gives a bit more jeopardy than just 1 team facing relegation

probably needs to go to 16 teams but the rest of the WSL2 may not be ready for that

WSL 2 needs a lot of planning by getting teams up to scratch.
