Same as my partner who recently got citizenship. However if you really want to8 be English then whatever, more power to you, come join us, we're the best. That's the worst tripe I've ever heard. There is no criteria, no one can tell me how I feel and who my allegiance is for. I was born in England and always supported England 3
LCFCJohn Posted 23 January Posted 23 January (edited) Not sure how it has become political and about race but on the case itself, that is a joke of a sentence. I get that it’s unlikely he’d get out, whether he dies inside in that 52 years or if he just isn’t released then and it is a minimum. But, that should have been a whole life order sentence. It shouldn’t be x number of years however high. There shouldn’t even be the possibility that he walks free however far in the future. This wasn’t some head case having a breakdown and going on a spontaneous rampage. It was pre-meditated and planned. All the surrounding stuff about his past, the terrorist related things found in his house, his comments about being glad they died and even his contempt of court twice today show he is inherently evil. There is no chance this animal can be rehabilitated and if he walked free at 70, you’d not bet against him going straight out and doing it again. If that was my child involved, I’d be devastated at that sentence. I think it really trivialises the crimes. Shame on the judge. Edited 23 January by LCFCJohn

We really are a nation of hypocrites So odd, it's like these peeps have unwritten rules and change there narrative to suit. 2

But in this case specifically , I wouldn’t consider this man British, the only thing that makes him that is his passport. Based on what, if I may ask? You can be English and Islamic, Xtrian, See? 1

It's ethnicity so there's no rules and we're not going to agree. I'm probably going to move back to Bulgaria soon and might get Bulgarian citizenship. 90% of Bulgarians would probably disagree that I suddenly stop being English and start being Bulgarian but I suppose there's nothing to stop me feeling that way, as you say. And when you said you were first gen I thought you were born elsewhere. Edited 23 January by bovril

Religion has nothing to do with it, your ethnicity is a result of several generations before you and is part of your genetic make up. We’re all where we come from but that doesn’t mean you can’t re populate elsewhere and feel more connected to another culture, but that doesn’t mean your whole generational and genetic make up goes out the window and you become strictly English. 1 1

From the outside I would say you and your kids are English and I am delighted if you feel that. I suppose it is where your heart is. Back in the 60s my cousin (now deceased) emigrated to Aus. To me he remained an English bloke but his Aussie born kids and grandkids are Australian
