On another day he’d have won (and converted) two penalties and the forum would be bursting with praise for him. Fine margins.

The issue wasn’t Vardy. It was progressing the ball up the pitch with three DMs on.

I disagree.

we keep getting told that Cooper is a manager who plays to the strength of the players at his disposal. Swap strikers yesterday. Stick Watkins upfront for us - he wouldn’t have done anything either. You can’t isolate your centre forward for 60/70 minutes like that.

Vardy still offers so much in bursts. He is 37. We can’t have him run the line for 90 minutes anymore. And, without any creativity or support for 60/70.

He is still and will remain so for many years, an exceptional finisher - guys like Mavididi, Fatawu, Bilal, Facundo are imperative for Vardy to be effective for this remaining year (I don’t know why we have given him 3). And his instinct to score, fight and press in bursts is still there - we saw it v Spurs.

If he was Patson-ing away chances in front of goal, or being ran past and looking unfit, I might be able to agree.   But he wasn't.  He was in the game about as much as he could be in the game, with that horrendous defensive set-up.

@Paninistickers  I have a feeling that Jamie Vardy might make you live to regret having posted this.

I tend to agree with the original comment. With Vardy leading the line at 37, I can’t see us making much impact in the Premier League. He’s still impressive for his age and will score the occasional goal, but his overall contribution is quite limited. I’d hate to see him fade out quietly this season.

It's over. He shouldn't be playing. It's unfair to expect him to do that role needed up top.

HIs contribution - beyond talisman - is close to zero.

Another overreaction. Yes, this is probably his last season, but he wasn’t the problem yesterday.

Disagree. It you have no service you are not going to impact the game. Doesn’t matter if you’re 27 or 37. I actually thought he came alive in the last 25 minutes once we were actively trying to play him in. Very few strikers in world football can be effective as isolated as he was for the first 65 minutes. Thats on the tactics not Vardy.

If we do continue to set up in a safety first manner, then Vardy, Edouard, Daka or Ayew might as well just not bother
