Wasn’t this supposed to happen this season, then Barcelona kicked off as they needed to sell players, so it got delayed.

I think the Premier League did it one year but the rest of Europe kept it open into the season, so it was a shit idea at the time.

I agree in principle if all of European leagues that start in August should be shut by the first league game.

As long as all the major leagues do it, I'm definitely in favour. The reason it never worked before is we were the only league to do it. 

 

It makes sense that the squad is settled and focused on the season without the distractions of  transfers.

except for when the saudi clubs chuck a wedge at a star player i guess. I definitely like the premise but it’s definitely possible to get screwed. There’s been a few tantrums for saudi moves already ( toney and mitrovic spring to mind)
