Ric Flair Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 I wonder whether Weso might make an appearance tonight for the under 18's against Huddersfield? Does anyone know what stage he's at in terms of training, etc? Would be good to see the whiz-kid back in action.
Ricey Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 I'm pretty sure if he was fit enough the club would of told us to try and tempt the fans to going to watch the game.
Mark Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 We lost, knocked out by Huddersfield http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~758264,00.html City's under 18s were knocked out of the FA Youth Cup on Tuesday evening at the Walkers Stadium after a penalty shoot-out.Max Gradel (pictured celebrating his goal with Tom Tejan-Sie) had given Leicester the lead over Huddersfield in the first half but the game was to finish 1-1 at the end of regulation time. Huddersfield now go on to meet Carlisle United in the fourth round.
Jonbluefox9 Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 That Max Gradel looked very lively first half. It was the first time I'd seen him play and he caught my eye. We looked quite solid at the back. Norvall and lycett (I think it was them two) played well as a centre back partnership. I didn't see much of Franklin at left back but Magunda played quite well on the right side. Didn't look afraid of getting forward, shame he missed his penalty in the shootout though. Wykes did well in the holding midfield role. Did the simple things well and had a few cracks at goal. Tejan-Sie wasn't in the game much first half. Didn't seem to know if he was supposed to be bombing on or holding a lot of the time. King attacked well at times and had a good chance second half but the keeper saved at his feet. Muggleton looked off the pace. I think he was supposed to be supporting Chambers when we had possession but unfortunately he didn't seem like he was reading the game very well. Scored his penalty though. Chambers did some nice things. Scared their defenders with his pace and showed a bit of strength too. Nice dummy that opened up a chancce for himself but he held on to the ball too long at times instead of releasing it. Didn't help his performance when his team mates started to hit high balls towards him. He needs it to feet or to run on to. Every atttack seemed to be through him or Gradel first half. Either through the middle for Chambo or down the right for Gradel. Chambo was subbed second half though, may have picked up a knock. I would've took Muggleton off because he wasn't at the races although I think he's a little taller than Chambo and Gradel so it gave us the option of playing a long ball at times. Pentney made a couple of good saves and collected crosses but his kicking at times was poor. The stand out players for me were: The centre backs (pretty sure one was Scott Lycett and not sure of the other one, possibly Norvall) Gradel (Looked good on the wing first half, not as productive down the middle second half) Chambers (Showed glimpses of why he is rated highly. Hit the post second half if I remember correctly. Would've scored first half if his control was a little bit closer) Wykes (I think he did a good job. Looked cool and collected with his penalty and throughout the game too. I doubt he'll make it at City (same could be said for at least one of the centre backs too) but he has something which I think will get him a job at another league club in the future)

Nationwider Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 ... Nice review. Always good to hear about the youth team.

We didnt do to bad, a little more luck and things would've gone our way. 9/10 if you strike the ball against the inside of the post, it'll go in but not today. A big well done to the 120 odd minutes the boys put in though.

Shame to see him come off though as he created something out of nothing at times tonight. I was bang in line with him when he did that dummy and then sped away down the left hand side. It was nice to see. After that their defenders just backed off him. Gradel and Muggleton (if he was actually playing upfront?) offered us very little second half once Chambo had been brought off though. Billy Mckay didn't look bad when he came on.

That is what he is best at doing( and im sure Thracian will back me up on that) and this is why he is so highly rated because he has the ability to change a game in a flash
cisono Posted 20 December 2005 Posted 20 December 2005 We lost, knocked out by Huddersfield Hmm at least it was on penalties...

Just got back from the match. When Chambers left if was like Leicester's balloon was deflated. He just lacked that final cutting edge after coming back from injury. Mind you, their goalkeeper made his contribution although Chambers shot that hit a post should really have been despatched.
