JimJams Posted 22 March Posted 22 March I'd be surprised at that, but I'd be all for it cos West Ham pay up.
Clever Fox Posted 1 April Posted 1 April I'd be sorry to see him go but he needs a fresh challenge. I just hope the Club don't think Skipp or Winks can replace him in midfield. 1 2
Pliskin Posted 1 April Posted 1 April Time to let him go, he needs to move on as he has become stale here, we need to free up the wages and have a bit of cash.

He's been absolutely awful at this level for a long time now. He'll be playing in the Championship again next season, and he's pretty good down there which is a positive for us.

I think he could do a job for a top Turkish or Greek club where he’s purely there to break up play and give it to others. the modern cdm in top euro leagues can’t just be a ‘destroyer’ - they need to be technically capable too. 1

Maybe - But unless he has a low release fee (which is possible to be fair), they won't pay what we'll probably want for him. I just can't see him leaving this Summer.

I just can't see him leaving this Summer. If he re signed last summer then he’d have an sig wage reduction clause. Any agent worth their money would have negotiated a release clause on relegation to go alongside that. I am unsure what happens to outstanding contractual salary obligations - say he’s got another three years at 80k - that means we owe him £12m. But if he stays then his salary is reduced to 2.5m/annum. Surely he must have a reduced fee option on relegation to compensate for that negative exposure to his future earnings. 2
