Leicester City’s updated Premier League squad has been published and one space remains empty for a potential free signing.

Clubs have had to submit their squad lists following the completion of the January transfer window and City have made just one alteration. New signing Woyo Coulibaly comes in, while Hamza Choudhury makes way, the homegrown midfielder out on loan at Sheffield United for the remainder of the season.

It means City have once again filled just 24 of their 25 spots. Should they wish, it means they can add a free agent to the squad for the second half of the Premier League season. But with the club working to Profit and Sustainability Rules and keen not to add any players to their squad that didn’t improve the 11, a deal is unlikely.

City have chosen not to include centre-back Harry Souttar in the squad following his return from Sheffield United. While he’s expected to be out for the season with an Achilles injury, he won’t be able to feature if he does return to fitness.

Ruud van Nistelrooy actually has a first-team squad of 27 players to choose from, but three of those – Bilal El Khannouss, Facundo Buonanotte and the injured Abdul Fatawu – are born after January 1, 2003, are so are all eligible for the unlimited Under-21s list. The likes of Sammy Braybrooke and Jake Evans are also on that list, but not Jeremy Monga, as he is too young to be on either a pro or scholar contract.

The Under-21s includes one new player. Eighteen-year-old box-to-box midfielder Bless Akolbire appears to have permanently joined the club from Arsenal. He has made two appearances for City’s Under-18s over the past couple of months.

City’s senior squad list (* indicates homegrown): Jordan Ayew, Conor Coady*, Woyo Coulibaly, Patson Daka, Bobby De Cordova-Reid*, Odsonne Edouard, Wout Faes, Mads Hermansen, Daniel Iversen*, James Justin*, Victor Kristiansen, Stephy Mavididi*, Kasey McAteer*, Wilfred Ndidi, Caleb Okoli, Ricardo Pereira, Oliver Skipp*, Boubakary Soumare, Jakub Stolarczyk*, Luke Thomas*, Jamie Vardy*, Jannik Vestergaard, Danny Ward*, Harry Winks*.

City’s under-21 squad list: Maxwell Adedeji, Bless Akolbire, Mirsad Ali, Olabade Aluko, Will Alves, Bobby Amartey, Stevie Bausor, Sammy Braybrooke, Logan Briggs, Facundo Buonanotte, Henry Cartwright, Joe Corden, Brandon Cover, Will Daniels, Alpha Diallo, Ryan Donnelly, Jake Donohue, Kaleb Dyke, Bilal El Khannouss, Jake Evans, Oli Ewing, Abdul Fatawu, Alfie Fisken, Harry French, Harvey Godsmark-Ford, Michael Golding, Kevon Gray, Ben Grist, Deniche Hill, Lorenz Hutchinson, Jayden Joseph, Reiss Khela, Josh King, Bartosz Kosiorek, Will Lawrence, Jahmari Lindsay, Liam McAlinney, Lewis McNab, Tommy Neale, Ben Nelson, Laolu Omobolaji, Toby Onanaye, Kirsten Otchere, Louis Page, Kian Pennant, Chris Popov, Amani Richards, Harry Sutherington, Silko Thomas, Tom Wilson-Brown, Joe Wormleighton.

Only six players in the senior list are any good, (8 with Bilal & Fats).  More than likely they will all go and we’ll be stuck with the rest of the donkeys.

No doubt Top and Rudkin will continue their charity work filling the Leicester City donkey sanctuary with more rescues in the summer.

So many reasons why this squad is absolutely honking right now. 13 reasons. Maybe that number is a sign.
