What a finish, and the silence coming from the little kittens is deafening!!!

Those images aren't showing for me.

Wild finish yes. Looked like TiCats had it won, but left just enough time to screw it up.

Was a great Labour Day classic, except for the part where the Argos won :P

This is the beauty of the cfl. Shit teams beat better teams all the time. Not that the cats are killing it this year.

On the losing side  but definitely  a classic.

Argos fans can still suck my sack.

Obviously this is my first season of taking an interest and watching extended highlights only.

But whisper it quietly, the Elks are looking like a different side to watch from the opening few games

Still 5-7 though

Maybe they started the season with the wrong quaterback!

Whisper it quietly, but after their 2-8 start, the Argos are hosting these Elks next weekend, and if they win, will actually be in a Playoff spot...

That'd be good enough for 2nd in the East lol

Of course, it's mostly always been that way in the CFL, with the West being better.

Where has the CFL been all my life??? What a game tonight again!!!

After the incredible 1 second win in the Labor Day Classic which I didn't think could be topped, the Argos came out laying a turd - 14-0 down and playing awfully, and in trying far too hard to get back into it,  they had a 6-1 turnover margin against, the Elks scoring 27 points off those turnovers, Fajardo 1 short of the CFL record of 23 consecutive completions - and the Argos starting QB (who himself was the backup) limping off and they overcome all that to somehow pull off a walk-off field goal and only go and win it.

There was Herslow trying another highlight reel hurdle - only to get smashed with a helmet to helmet stop in mid-air instead, and plenty of needle, with virtually a mass brawl at the end.

And what a playoff race... nobody is out of it with 6 games to go and 6 teams sat between 4-9 and 6-7 fighting for 3 playoff spots.

3 wins in a row now for the Argos... we might not be catching Hamilton in the regular season, but I'm starting to salivate at an Eastern Final match-up....

Remember folks, in the UK, this is all free to watch on https://www.cfl.ca/plus/ - I feel sorry for anyone drawn in by DAZN and choosing to watching the kiddies play college football instead...

Calm down son, you're going to get slapped up if you get that far. Lol.

I have always enjoyed the CFL more than the NFL. Faster game, more scoring and crazy results make it an insane watch week to week.

Sure, bigger, stronger , more talent in NFL but I am biased as a Canadian.

Argos with a sexy comeback win you must have jizzed in your pants, mushy socks and all lol

Can't deny I lost a bit of control with the strip sack at the game's climax!

Long may it continue…it’s cracking to follow

Really gutting week for my Argos as well. Already having played the whole season with backup QB (Nick Arbuckle), he went down at the end of the Elks game last week, so had to roll out the 3rd string QB: Jarret Doege, and it was the about the most helpless I've ever felt watching a game... After an early drive and a 3-0 lead, in the period from 9 minutes in to 9 minutes to go - so in basically 42 minutes of football, the Argos offence managed 40 net yards. Talk about going down with a whimper. And yet, somehow, thanks to a stunning performance from the defence, only found themselves 18-9 down, and very nearly came all the way back to pull off another miracle. But wasn't to be, and playoffs now look a long shot, whether its QB1, 2 or 3 in next week.

Massive news coming out of the CFL today:

https://3downnation.com/2025/09/22/cfl-modifies-rouge-and-clock-for-2026-shortens-field-and-moves-uprights-for-2027/

- shortening the field from 110 yards to 100 (like the NFL).

- moving the goalposts to the back of the endzone (like the NFL).

- changing the play clock to more like the NFL.

- stopping the rouge point (which isn't in the NFL) - unless the returner takes a knee in the Endzone.

- making sure the 2 benches are on opposite sides (same rule as in the NFL).

- not introduced yet, but not ruled out a move from 3 downs to 4 downs in time (dare I say it... like the NFL)

Not that I'm accusing them of trying to be more like the NFL (or crediting Luke Wilson for winning when he has egregiously used his position to keep chirping away about how the CFL needs to be more like the NFL).

I loved so many of these things that were just so different and really made the game jump out as something different when watching it. Having just discovered this strange sport, I'll be forever reminiscing about those 2 years of watching it when all these rules were in place.

I think, when it comes down to it, none of these will really fundamentally change the way the game is played, or take away much of the enjoyment, but I'm really not sure any were necessary or will help with what they want to do with marketing the game (apart from the posts which are dangerous where they are). I also wonder if they are looking at trying to expand the footprint of the game again, as the 150 yard field wouldn't fit in many stadiums, while a 130 yard field is only 10 more than an NFL or College field.

Just feels like a sad day. The CFL is never going to compete with the NFL, but I'd think it will struggle more trying to be a pale imitation than playing up to what makes it unique.

So, how about them Argos lol.

Yesterday felt like a lame animal needing to be put out of its misery. Playing yesterday with our 3rd string QB and keeping on giving the ball back to Hamilton felt the humane way to end the fans' suffering. For the best, I think.

Jays win, ticats win the east. Happy days for me!

Congratulations to the Ticats through gritted teeth from an Argos fan.

That Labour Day classic was fun, but you gave us a proper lesson in the other 2 games, and are deserved East champions.

Congrats Riders

Thanks @Golden Fox for making this thread.

Thanks for the QEW rivalry throughout the season @spacemunky and @Jattdogg! - and for the updates on the Elks @EastAnglianFox who turned their season around & came close to sneaking in. Thoroughly enjoyed following the sport this year - I do think its a better game than the NFL, (and a bit more brutal given the injuries) and it really shines through everyone being in it for the love of the sport rather than for the money.

I had the Grey Cup pre-game on in the background on Sunday (worth listening to the interviews with Stuart Johnson and our ex Governer of the Bank of England...) but it kicked off well after my bedtime, so just finished watching it tonight.

Playoffs as a whole were fun, with some intense finishes. I reckon Montreal probably the strongest team in the league when Davis-Alexander plays, but fair play to the Riders who had the best regular season record, and for doing it when it mattered - at the end of the W. Final, and for a spell in the middle of the Final, and I was happy for them.

After the miserable season, its all gone wrong in Argo-land with Dinwiddie walking out on them to go to Ottawa, and (between the lines) calling out what a cheapskate organisation MLSE runs. Saying how he will have less to do in Ottawa even bing a head coach & GM due to all the day to day admin he had to do in Toronto, and how much better the training facilities and offices were in Ottawa and that they didn't come forward with a new contract offer. Given Toronto are giving up 3 home games in '26 for World Cup clashes to play away (while BC able to flip to other venues in the province), its a really depressing mood and feels like I've missed the boat on seeing the Argos in the Grey Cup any time soon.

As far as ex-players, it didn't take much digging to find a Jason Shivers played for them from 2007-2009, so does that mean you'll be tuning in to watch the Argos play the Stamps on Saturday night???

What do you know... that very same Jason Shivers has just interviewed for the vacant head coach role... https://3downnation.com/2025/11/24/toronto-argonauts-interview-jason-shivers-for-head-coach-job-sources/... You might get your wish, with every bloody headline being about Jason and the Argonauts...

New CFL starts tomorrow!!!

The off-season is bonkers... it looks like teams try to get as many players as they can from anywhere: free agency, the Canadian draft, the International draft, college football, the UFL, off the street, to build a squad of around 100 players... and then have to cut them down to 45 in very little time. (Some player might get 2 days of training camp and then be gone!). The draft is crazy as the best players are the ones most likely to get NFL contracts, so they may be drafted and then just disappear. And of the 74 players drafted, only 30 have actually ended up on active rosters. Pre-season games are a joke, that you can get basically get a team full of players who are gone the next day. Even scoring a hatrick of TDs in a 20-14 win doesn't make you immune (JerJuan Newton)! And then obviously, teams will snap up players released from other teams for even more roster churn.

The Argos started the off-season in a deperate mood after a 5-13 season, with Ryan Dinwiddie walking out to go to Ottawa and having a couple of swipes at the organistion along the way, and the team giving up 3 home games for 2026 while the World Cup is at BMO. But on reflection (and the Argos getting a shocking coaching score in player questionnaires), it felt like Dinwiddie's intensity had run its course (feels very similar to Jim Harbough's reign at the 49ers with 3 spectacular years of at lease the NFC Championship game, and then the whole thing falling apart in year 4), and new Head Coach Mike Miller brings a calm, considered voice to lead the team (and in the background, the appointments of Jim Jim Barker and John Hufnagel have added some real gravitas), while the roster has improved. (And actually having Chad Kelly fit is bigger than any big name signing). So they aren't getting much respect from pundits, but there is a quiet confidence there.

So I'm excited. Will the Argos end their 1 year Grey Cup drought, or with the Ti-Cats end their 26 year drought??? - I'm ready, and so are all the teams (well 6 of them: 3 teams start with a bye, including the Argos, which is a ridiculous way to start a season!)...
