It’s a phenomenal technology that has sadly been abused by malevolent actors. Decentralised financial transactions for either currency or stocks would be amazing. No banks taking a cut on current exchange fees, being able to trade in shares immediately and not have to wait days to get paid, massively reduced transaction fees, tracking of transfers to know where stolen funds end up.

As someone who got in early on crypto, I like it for the value it’s gotten to, but the underlying technology would be great for the normal consumers leaving aside the value of BTC etc. Sadly the banks have hobbled it as they control the exchange and markets and they can continue to rip us off.

And is there any feasible situation on the horizon where this isn't the case and it therefore becomes in any way a truly viable option to the traditional banking system for the majority of people? I don't see one.

Yesterday, at a meeting of G20 Foreign Ministers in Atlanta, the UK Foreign Minister Ed Miliband sat before the 19 other representatives, including US Foreign Secretary Marco Rubio, to give his speech to the room.
Midway through, he stared directly towards Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov and said the following words:
"Let me say this directly to the Russian Foreign Minister: we all know who the aggressor in this war is. Let's talk about what happened at Dnipro railway yesterday. Only yesterday your drones attacked and killed 15 people. And there are countless examples like this of you killing innocent civilians throughout this war. We all know you are the aggressor. We all know you started this war four and a half years ago with the full scale invasion of Ukraine. "
"And Putin thought then he would win this war easily. But you are are not winning this war. Thanks to the courage of the Ukrainian people and the solidarity of countries round this table, you are not winning. If you had the courage to tell the truth and to do what is right you would tell Putin that he is not winning this war and will not win."

I think Vladimir knows what’s happening

and I think vladimir knows he has every chance of coming away from this with the Donbas, crimea and a large land bridge.

doesn’t do any harm for miliband to say that out loud but no one wins given the number of dead soldiers.
