Bolsonaro Jr told to surrender his passport by the Brazilian authorities.

Note to various other world players who consider themselves democracies: this is how you deal with people who attempt to subvert the democratic process.

I read he’d already fled to the states

on the subject of comebacks, earlier this afternoon BN was down to 18% on polymarket.  He’s now up to 25%. Doesn’t sound that good but in a country where the horse trading post elections is often a bit nuts, could he really find a way ? In any event, a close result means he’ll remain in office for at least a month and possibly more than 2.

His exact location appears to be something of a mystery. If he has quit the country, it's through illicit means - that's the mark of a clearly honest man, evidently.

WRT the Israeli elections, I guess only time is going to tell there.

Assuming the exit polls are reasonably accurate, neither bloc can easily form a govt

so the president invites a party leader to try and form a govt - BN is likely to just be the largest party and therefore every chance he is asked first. That is significant. He will have 30 days and the old wily campaigner he is, will likely cause a lot of political trouble.

if the stakes weren’t so high, it would be fascinating. But the last thing needed in the region is what we’re likely to see with the political games when leadership and decision making is required.

a positive from the day is the unprecedented level of Arab voting which means they could have as many as 18 seats.

Sounds like a lot of horsetrading ahead. Which, as you say, is not exactly what is needed for that region right now.

Looks like you and the grapevine were right @st albans fox, Bolsonaro Jr looks to have shown up in the US. Hiding under his brothers skirts and quite probably with some assurances from the current US administration.

How brave.

Well he saw what happened to his old man

I’m not sure I would have hung around given what I’d probably been involved with …..

:dunno: He's a coward.

At least his old man had the courage to stay and face the music when his schemes to maintain power went belly up for him.

Classic Confucian wisdom right there

But in all seriousness, I can see why he did it, but it still shows that when it comes to the crunch, like a lot of figures of his ilk, he has no stones.

Twump is pathetic. Complains about Canada interfering in their elections and proceeds to do so everywhere else in the world not to mention our own elections and Alberta.  Do one!

Always looking to help people who go money or are corrupt like him.

It's unbelievable that much of his core voters are labourers and blue-collar workers who benefit not one jot from his policies.

At least 68 dead in that train crash. Horrible. :(

Horrific news, reading into it seems there was a similar crash not too long ago involving the same sort of systems

There's still people unaccounted for, that number is almost certainly going to go up barring a miracle :(

Not much Budget discussion then?

Think Healey did not far away from the best he could given the current world circumstances.

the landlord income tax rise is just another push for landlords to sell up which is going to increase rent prices - well done government. Our tenant leaves this month, cannot wait to sell it now

good news they have u-turned on the ISA reverting back to £20,000

The £100 gift to bands A-D good idea but wish it was means tested, there are people in C/D houses that are bigger properties than some E properties and some of these will be really wealthy/paid off their mortgage

The housing issue is a bloody difficult one - sorting that out in a way that does something for everyone and doesn't concentrate housing in the hands of bigger companies is a task I wouldn't envy anyone.

Do agree about the means testing on the 100 notes for the reason you say, guess it was thought that it would take too long logistically to means test?

The £100 is weird. It has cost the government £2.6bn but its so small and untargetted its ineffective anyway.

The money would have been better used on defence as it would have increased the budget by 3%. Or they could have installed solar onto 400k social houses with that money,

Yes this is what they have said, just frustrating as the means test with other things
