Foxhateram Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 im not sure. he seems to have good spells of play in a game and then doesnt get involved. what are your veiws?
Cal Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 Well he was apparently Hearts best forward when he was there. But he doesnt seem that good here. Its just the Quality of the SPL isnt on par with our premiership or even our Championship.

martyn Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 He's limited, but has a good touch and always gives 100%. He gets unfairly made a scapegoat by a proportion of LCFC fans

martyn Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 He won't improve beyond his current level or be the sort of player to help fire a team up the league so no, a new striker is a priority. My point is that given performances of other players, MdV doesn't deserve half of the stick he gets.

Guest Gist Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 I think De Vries just isnt good enough IMO he is over 6ft yet dont try and win headers he is strongest when the ball is played at his feet but that dont happen when he plays its often hoof ball As for sylla he can go to the African nations and not come back for all I care shows no comitment
Neil_LCFC Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 If De Vries isn't good enough now he isn't going to get much better.Potential is something young players have & he's knocking on 30 so should be in his prime not still improving as a player.

He might have been, nut i looked on the Jambos site when he arrived and they were'nt to bothered, some even calling him a donkey.
Libertine Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 I like De Vries. But as said before on FT, he slows the game down too much. When he first arrived at Leicester, coming on a a sub he looked really good, and I think he'll do for coming on late on, but when he starts games he's not good enough in my opinion.
Mark Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 Holds the team back every game he plays. When he does start I lose hope of us scoring in games, is it no wonder we had 8-9 games earlier in the season when we didn't score when he was up front. We end up relying on him for the goals because the our game changes and he becomes the focal point. We'd scored in the previous 5 league games without him, we wasn't winning enough but as if he's going to change that. He's started the last 2 games, we've scored 0 goals. Superb. It doesn't help when you're playing 4-4-1-1 at home though. Hume was so far behind him at times it was more like 4-5-1.
Gené and Tonic Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 He isn't a Leicester player, sure he tries hard, but he just isn't good enough, end of.
Trumpet Posted 31 December 2005 Posted 31 December 2005 De Vries... well... where do we start. I dont understand him as a player really. A striker normally comes in the way of a goalscorer or a big lad who can take the ball down and feed a goalscorer. The only real potential goalscorer i see at city is Hume. Big lad obviously being De Vries, but hammond can do that too (and has pace). But De Vries doesnt seem to get the ball down for hume. Yeah, hes got a nice touch... sometimes.. but we need him to flick the ball on, win the headers and chase. He goes for the headers but he sort of backs into the defender and then holds his hands in the air at the ref. Hes a player who needs the ball to his feet, so im wondering, why do we play De Vries and hoof the ball up to him? Today we picked the ball up in defense, knocked it out wide to Stearman and hoofed it. De Vries needs it to his feet, but that wont happen in this league so i dont think De Vries is the man. And we have gave him enough time to settle in.

Hitesh Posted 1 January 2006 Posted 1 January 2006 He is inconsistent and is just an average championship player. I dont think he will improve greatly and definitly not in the short term. he is low in confidence and there is too much pressure on him.

Foxhateram Posted 1 January 2006 Author Posted 1 January 2006 doubt it to be honest. ! anyone else got any ideas for a right winger? or a new striker?
Chimp Posted 1 January 2006 Posted 1 January 2006 Yeah, I think we've seen all there is to see with MDV. He's an average Champioship player and won't become much else. Still, I can't help thinking that if he improved his pace he'd be a lot more useful.
