When a team is set up to play 4-5-1 it isn't to be negative it is done to try and win the game, he doesn't set out not to win games. Perhaps if these people got off Championship Manager or Football Manager and wtached football they might get an understanding of the finer points of the game.

Whilst what you say is true in that CL does not set out to lose games, 4-5-1 is actually a negative, cautious tactic unless you have good enough wide players to make it a genuine 4-3-3 when you have the ball.

Milky Posted 9 January 2006 Posted 9 January 2006 it was a poor start by us though. we stood off them, gave them time and space. just one up front didn't work, but fair play to levein on this occasion, he changed it to 2 up front and the players started pressing them and the rest is history. 4-5-1 was a tactical error, but at least he changed it after 30 mins rather than keep it
