The People's Hero Posted 11 January 2006 Posted 11 January 2006 I spend 90% of my time at work staring at a computer screen whilst on the phone. Foxestalk is often open in the background. I have become somewhat addicted though - I will admit.
Cat Burger Posted 11 January 2006 Posted 11 January 2006 Do you ever go?? 'cos you always seem to be on here Yeah, I think he's got a girlfriend as well. Don't know how he manages it!

Matt Posted 11 January 2006 Posted 11 January 2006 Carpenter/Joiner/Shopfitter Apprentice. Level 1 - Complete Level 2 - Completing (Aiming to complete in February) After Level 2 I can finish my apprenticeship and be classed as a qualified Carpenter/Joiner, But I think I will go onto Level 3 which is an advanced apprenticeship, I don't want to do Level 3 because the college I do my apprenticeship through couldn't arrange a piss up in a brewery (i.e - Giving us a weeks notice on coming test not once...but 3 times, and not just that they gave us nothing to revise from) and my tutor is a willy puller who seems to know fuk all about what he is teaching, but I am only doing Level 3 to get me further qualified and get me better pay...The only reason I am at college is to get the peice of paper. Currently my pay isn't bad for an apprentice wage (£4 p/h) but when I am finished my apprentice, I get a wage rise to £8 p/h! Not bad for a "thick" lad who left school and didn't want to go onto further education like my mates...Ah well better than stuck in a supermarket (Like most of the people who called me thick at school huh?)

Doing a trade is perfect for a lot of people. It also pays very well, my mate is foing a brickie apprentacipe in London and as is expecting to have a starting salary of 35k+. I Think what is important is that everyone is given the oppurtunity to fuether their skills and human capital. Apprentacipes are vital for those who want to work in the trades but we are mainly a service economy and thus our need for the expansion of University education.
Katy Posted 12 January 2006 Posted 12 January 2006 I run my own business of sorts after a string of reasonableish jobs, still skint though but now studying towards a BA (Honours) in Childhood and Youth Studies via the gift of the OU
