foxes_fan Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Does anybody know, if you do receive EMA, when we get our January Bonus of £100? Thanks.
Guest Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 You should count yourself lucky to get anything at all. When I was a lad......
Bert Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Does anybody know, if you do receive EMA, when we get our January Bonus of £100? Thanks. Last years went in, late January early Feb last year. You only get it based on your attendance from last term. I think after you have completed the first two weeks back at college you should then recieve it.
Phube Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Bouns, BONUS... All I get is a Christmas dinner in the canteen - worth about £6......
Cat Burger Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Bouns, BONUS... All I get is a Christmas dinner in the canteen - worth about £6...... Up yours! I got £20 a year that was almost too hard to claim. Like Lisa said count yourself lucky.
Milky Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 is this the thing where you get money if your parents earn less than 20,000 a year?
Cat Burger Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Yeah, you also get it if you live outside a certain radius of your school/college. I just missed out on both Criteria I think <_<
Phube Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 School/college.... duh! I thought you were talking East Midland Airport!!!! And I never got a Jan bonus at Uni either!!! Life's just not fair!!
Guest Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Up yours! I got £20 a year that was almost too hard to claim. Like Lisa said count yourself lucky. All I got was contempt and derision.....
Head Honcho Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Memo to Allen Buy some shares in Wetherspoons!
Phil Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 EMA is such a srupid idea all it does is encourage kids to stay in education just to get money rather than stay because they want to better themselves.
The People's Hero Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 EMA is such a srupid idea all it does is encourage kids to stay in education just to get money rather than stay because they want to better themselves. Agreed. Also, I never got it. So I'm bitter.
TrickyTrev Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 EMA is such a srupid idea all it does is encourage kids to stay in education just to get money rather than stay because they want to better themselves. Yeah all the plebs should leave school and get a McJob where they belong. <_< Have you ever wandered whether the whole point of he scheme is to keep people in education for their own benefit?
Anish Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Agreed. Also, I never got it. So I'm bitter. You may not have qualified even if it was around in our day The argument that kids stay in school to get EMA is a bit of a joke. After all, you get (I'm guessing here) £30 or so per week to stay in school, but if you got a job you could get £150+ per week.
Jonesy_rules Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 and as already mentioned, if you attendence falls below a certain % you don't get it! I didn't get it anyway, and don't see that it really helps in any circumstance!
Syko Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 EMA its shocking my mates get it so they go out when i'm wokrin for my money cause i don't get it!
Jonesy_rules Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 EMA its shocking my mates get it so they go out when i'm wokrin for my money cause i don't get it! yup i know people that did that, get the dosh n spend it down the pub, and then moan when they're skint!
Matt Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Yeah all the plebs should leave school and get a McJob where they belong. <_< Have you ever wandered whether the whole point of he scheme is to keep people in education for their own benefit? This is just going back to what James, was asking me about he thinks I feel abit bitter about people staying in education after school...and comments like "Yeah all the plebs should leave school and get a McJob where they belong" I know that was a tongue in cheek comment, but this is exactly what some people really do think, I was considered one of the thick kids at school, never learnt much, never got good grades, e.t.c, I left school at 16 I knew what I wanted to do, I did it, and I have NEVER looked back, now most my mates who went to college/6th form/uni have dropped out because "It wasn't what they really wanted to do" or "I don't really know what to do" they are now years behind in whatever subject they choose to study or years behind in whatever career they want to do (When they decide what career they want to do), and really this is my opinion on people who go onto further education, not all people who go onto further education do but IMO ALOT do. And then I know a few people who have done there uni course, and now I would have thought it would have been a good idea to have used what I had learnt at uni, or do a job in the subject they choose to pay shit loads of money to learn, but you know what? Nah they just sign up on some agency to get shite jobs, with shite pay...WHY?! What is the point? Further Education - (Mostly)Shit! -Get a proper job...or atleast when you do get the qualifications you want use them!
The People's Hero Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 To be fair Matt, when I went to uni, and indeed when I left uni, I didn't have a clue what I wanted to do. I am also, I suppose, at a disadvantage to many in my profession my age who have a few years experience on me. Having said that, I'll do 'em one day!
Bert Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Further education is good if you make it god - you are much more dependent on yourself, becuase you have a hell of a lot more work to do and spend less time with your tutors, if you really did care about your education you wouldn't be bothered about the money. I think this was mainly made for the people who don't have much chance of getting a decent job and are made to get a qualifacation so they are off the streets and not causing trouble and can then get a decent job.
The People's Hero Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Drinking beer and occasionally putting together a half arsed essay is brilliant.
Bert Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 Drinking beer and occasionally putting together a half arsed essay is brilliant. Fair enough, if thats how you want to look at it.
Muz Posted 10 January 2006 Posted 10 January 2006 If people want too stay in education and go Uni then fair doo's. If people want too get a job and work full time then thats there decision. I frickin' hated school , I was never going to stay on , so I decided to get a full time job.
