Leeds block Blackwell approach

Tim Davies is on a rocker if he thinks the likes of Blackwell and Billy Davies etc will leave their playoff hopeful clubs which they have built up, to come to a club with Championship football not guaranteed next season. Go for someone more realistic Tim, like one of the top League One bosses such as Allen or Tilson.

I can just imagine me coming home one day and seeing the headline "Chelsea block approach from Leicester for Mourinho" :ermm:

I don't think the approach for Billy Davies is as ludicrous as some suggest. Granted, Preston are in a decent position in the league and are playing well - however, Davies admitted today that Preston will always be a selling club, which means him selling an asset (Most likely Nugent) at the end of the season to balance the books.

There are many pulling factors for Davies to come here.

1) The stadium.

2) The training facilities.

3) The players he wanted to sign are here - Hume and Fryatt.

4) Leicester being a bigger club than Preston with more potential.

5) Fan base.

6) The club he used to play for.

Going back to Blackwell, it's just another unsubstantiated rumour. And besides, I don't rate the man anyway. As someone else said in this thread, he's the more expensive version of MA. Buys players for the sake of it.

To a degree, I am just playing devil's advocate here.

Sure, some agents are scum. But remember that it is their job to serve their clients the best they can.

In this situation, there are a large number of parties all jostling for position to get what they want. A huge number of clubs must be involved with LCFC and DCFC on the hunt for a new manager, lots of managers after better contracts and lots of newspapers anxious for a story. Who knows what to believe? :P

Exactly right. What gets me is that some of these people seem to be making their impact on this board  e.g certain people claiming they know Cotterill will be appointed tommorrow by they're journo mates. Inside info is all well and good during the transfere window, as we aren't the centre of attention what little news is banded about normally has some truth in it. However when what is going on at our club is national news, alot of rubbish seems to get spouted. I.e Coterill has said goodbye too the Burnley squad, Newhall will be appointed in two days, oh look it's Holoway ect.

The fact that Kevin Blackwell has been linked with us when he is nearing the end of his contract says somthing to me... let us not forgot he is yet to achieve promotion with a team that not only wants promotion, not only needs promotion, but also has the monster that is Ken Bates in charge. That says somthing to me. Not even our board would be that blindly optomistic as to ask Leeds United a club twice the size of ours ( only idoits would argue against this ) for their manager when they stand a chance of going up, and we stand a good chance of going down ( Espically if we appoint Mr Blackwell )

Theres somthing not quite right about this rumour.

I Wouldn't want him any way, he has spent a shit load of Bates's money on rubbish and not got automatic promotion, on surely what must be this divisions highest budget.

Leeds are in a strong position tho if they dont go up this year they should be top 2 next season if you look at their last 20 odd games.

If this romour is true we look like idiots we would have no chance of nicking leeds manager, they are a bigger club, more cash and are 3rd in the table. I also think with newell seemingly begging for the job why are we chasing around?

We should stop the chasing and employ Kelly, Gary Kelly

Interesting bit of info, I was playing footy last night with a friend of mine who is a coach for the Leeds United youth team. And apparently the rumour in the papers in Leeds is that if Leeds were to be promoted, they would attempt to get in a manager with Premiership management experience, to replace Blackwell. So maybe this is what the LCFC have heard as well ?

That's always said quite a few times and they would do. If Leeds get promoted I guarantee that they will throw everything they can at staying up with no regard for the consequence of going back down. Blackwell will be bumped off, as will most of their squad. I would love to see them throw £30 million at it and then get relegated again and fold. I hate Leeds, dirty cooonts.

Blackwell has one of the most slappable faces in football and without the money he's had at his disposal I very much doubt he'd manage at a Club like ours when we don't have a Santa Claus lookalike as a chairman dishing out the notes left right and centre. Hes literally a Micky Adams clone just been showered with pennies. No thanks.

I wouldn't want him, he has spent quite a bit of money this season, and he frankly doesn't come accross as the most dynamic of managers .....
