After just a handfull of games together their partnership seems to just be getting better and better. Who needs a 'big' man when Hume can out jump nearly every defender he plays against!! And with Fryatt's skills at turning men and dropping of the last defender... well I'm was just sooo impressed!!! Supposedly their centre halfs had the Leeds front two (Blake and other one that's not Cresswell) in their pocket all game. Yet they just couldn't handle Hume and Fryatt and resorted to petit (unnoticed) fouls!! Phew, love in over...

Definatly, there was plenty of positives to take from the partnership last night, but if you have to put it down to one main aspect it was without doubt there WORKRATE

We play some nice stuff with those two in the side and we look quite dangerous no more humping it to MDV - good call R Kelly

Both young as well, the sky is surely the limit for them, especialy if they have the chances they have against derby.
Trumpet Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 EVERYONES first touch last night was good, we turned players inside out with our first touches. Which is vital, because it gives space and loads more options. Fryatt never stopped.

Actually i shouldnt have said everyone, Sylla was poor, as was his workrate... hes so l;azy. I think he thinks hes still playing for CL, hopefully over the next few games he will fall in line with the rest of the team, if not id rather have smith in.

Foxing_Around Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 I agree, I thought Fryatt and Hume worked really well together, they certainly seem to have an understanding, which has been lacking for a while now. It was also good to see both strikers closing the defenders down, they both worked their socks off last night. I could see that pairing getting at least 35 goals between them next season.

willy37 Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 did anyone else notice the movement of hume and fryatt. i thought it was fantastic, excellent link up play aswell. something we havnt had in to strikers for a long time that i can remember. dissapointed with joey, dont think his hearts in it since deciding to leave, although he does make up for it, 1 assist last nite, two on sat.

I guess his performances will be under scrutiny more so than anyone else after him signing for someone else, I thought him and Sylla were underpar last night. Humeh seems to have had a new lease of life under RK, long may it continue!
Goddard Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 you really can't beat a hard working strikeforce. I think because most of the focus tends to be on strikers, they have a somewhat arrogance to their play where they think they don't have to work as hard as the rest of the team. They think they're just their to end the move. In Hume and Fryatt we've got 2 really hard working forwards and it's like have 2 extra players at times. Superb,
The Reverend Posted 15 February 2006 Posted 15 February 2006 They already seem to have a great understanding after about 4 games, which is brilliant. Hume is class though. The focus over the last few games has been Matty, but Hume is class aswell. His runs to the through balls last night were timed to perfection. Its a shame he couldnt have finished them off. I have no doubt though that a Hume that had played 10-15 games in a row would have finished them off. Lets not forget that he isnt really a natural striker either. Long live Hume and Fryatt!!

Possibly but even so he still set up both goals at Brighton and had a hand in the goals last night aswell. His allround play hasn't been as good recently, but I felt he's only been anygood for us when the team needed carrying and when everyone is confident and playinf fluently he's always seemed to be overshadowed. Funny really.
