Knighton Matt Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Just a quick poll to see if the hallowed tie really is in demise in the workplace?
Knighton Matt Posted 2 March 2006 Author Posted 2 March 2006 I do wear a tie because it gives a good impression to my clients
Knighton Matt Posted 2 March 2006 Author Posted 2 March 2006 I have to wear one to school Harsh! Is the colour scheme and pattern rank?
The People's Hero Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I don't have to wear one, but having said that, I do have a reputation to uphold of wearing a lot of nasty ties. I often go for an ensemble that just doesn't work just to get a reaction. Thinking about it, I really am sad.
andyh1884 Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I wear one. Have to keep buying new ones cos I tend to spill coffee/sandwiches/any other food I eat down them - doesn't look great for the clients. Got loads of cheap old stained ties if anyone wants them
Phube Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I get to wear a stylish white tunic (with blue piping) and navy blue polyester trousers... easy to wash the blood and MRSA out!!!
Leicester Lass Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Harsh! Is the colour scheme and pattern rank? It's black with a thick red diagonal stripe and then a thin yellow diagnoal stripe alternating. If you've got that?
The People's Hero Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I've actually got some really nice ties... proper designer things, then I suddenly thought, what the fock am I doing? I now get the 2packs from Next, £2.50 thanks to my mate's uniform discount.

Matt Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 Nope, H & S reasons. Can't being going on machine, and getting a tie caught in the saw or spinal moulder can I?
Nationwider Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I wear a tie nine times out of ten. Puts you in the mood to work if you dress business-like, I find. On the tenth day, I go in looking like a hairy tramp and tend to hide in the corner shuffling papers and praying for the computers to go down. Cravats - now there's a sartorial challenge.
The People's Hero Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 I've got a nice pink cravate for my mate's wedding. I didn't manage to convince him that I need a cane though. Damn. Similarly to Nationwider, a nice suit and a nice tailored shirt and a decent tie puts me in the mood to work. Going in scruffy, which I do every friday, and I tend to do fock all.
Scarby Posted 2 March 2006 Posted 2 March 2006 i voted yes, as the last job i had i wore a tie at the local wetherspoons
Alexikokopops Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 Over half the year I'm at Uni and when I'm at home I work as a bin man. So no tie for me.

Hey up scruffy arse, get off this forum do some work!
Rincewind Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 I am supposed to. Part of the uniform and image I have to uphold. But saying that if I am on my own all night in a little builders hut miles from civilisation on a night shift I take mine off after 30 seconds. Although if I have to meet the public or any figure of authority I wear one. So can I tick sometimes?
Janx Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 I always get the pinstripe, double cuffs and silk tie out for client meetings, but in the office we tend to wear dark suits and a deisgnery/stripey shirt kinda deal... the tie is dead in my orrifice.
holly Posted 3 March 2006 Posted 3 March 2006 never had to wear one! only wear one if go out dressed up as a school girl on a themed night at uni
