davieG Posted 13 April 2006 Share Posted 13 April 2006 From OS Duo In England Action Leicester City youngsters Ashley Chambers and Joe Mattock were both involved in England's 2-0 victory over China in the Under 16 Montaigu Tournament in France on Wednesday evening. The duo both entered the game from the bench - Mattock replacing Moses Barnett just before half time and Chambers (pictured) coming on for Rhys Murphy on 74 minutes. England's goals came from Leeds United starlet Danny Rose on the evening - both strikes coming in the opening 16 minutes of the contest. Chambers became the youngest ever player to represent the Foxes when he came on as a late substitute in the League Cup second round victory over Blackpool last September, while Mattock has been a regular for the reserves. The City duo will now again be hoping to be included in the squad for the upcoming game against France today (Thursday - 6pm), which is expected to be a sterner test. England U16s: Jason Steele (Middlesbrough), Seth Ofori-Twumasi (Chelsea), James Reid (Nottingham Forest), Jordan Spence (West Ham United), Jonathan Franks (Middlesbrough), Rhys Murphy (Arsenal) (Ashley Chambers (Leicester City) 74), Michael Woods (Chelsea) (Tom Taiwo (Chelsea) 61), Danny Rose (Leeds United (Tom Elliott (Leeds Unite) 68), Moses Barnett (Arsenal) (Joe Mattock (Leicester City) 44), Steven Clancy (Aston Villa), Henri Lansbury (Arsenal) (Tom Harvey (West Ham United) 27)
Ric Flair Posted 13 April 2006 Share Posted 13 April 2006 Both fantastic prospects. Not alot has been said about Mattock as of yet, but from what i've seen he's extremely talented and very advanced for his age. I watched him in the reserve game against Chelsea earlier in the season when we luckily drew 1-1 but he was head and shoulders above any Leicester player on the pitch and looked very dangerous on the left wing. I wouldn't be surprised to see him being very instrumental in the reserves next season.

Louise Posted 13 April 2006 Share Posted 13 April 2006 Duo To Start? Joe Mattock and Ashley Chambers will both be hoping for a starting berth when England take on France in the Montaigu Under 16 International Tournament in Montaigu tonight (Thursday 6pm). Kenny Swain's young charges go into the game on the back of a 2-0 victory over China on Wednesday night - with both Mattock and Chambers coming off the bench on that occasion. And City Academy Director Jon Rudkin, who is at the tournament in France, says that he is hopeful that both players will again play a part in the second group clash. He said: "Both Joe and Ashley did well when they came on against China on Wednesday night, and I am hopeful that they will make the squad again for the France game. In fact there is a good chance that they will both start. "It is a very demanding tournament with a large number of games in a short space of time - so I have no doubt that all of the teams will be using their squads to the maximum. "It's a fantastic competition with some of the world's best youngsters in attendance. As well as there being France, China and Tunisia in our group, Italy, Portugal, the Ivory Coast and Japan are also involved. There is no doubt that the whole experience will be tremendous for both Ashley and Joe. It's a good education for them "A big crowd is expected for the game against the French and it is a fixture that everyone is looking forward to." http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~815856,00.html

Ric Flair Posted 18 April 2006 Share Posted 18 April 2006 They finished fifth in the end. After losing to France in their 2nd game they also lost to Tunisia 2-1 with our Ashley Chambers equalising after coming off the bench. We then beat Japan on penalties in our last match.
