Jay Posted 13 April 2006 Share Posted 13 April 2006 Thatcher was a good buy, you can't say Bent and Ferdinand didnt do their jobs well while they were here. Stephan Freund should of been signed a bit sooner... overall you'd have to say he didn't do that badly in the transfere market. It just three of four stupid buys ( mainly at the back, Howey, Dabizas, Curtis the major culprits ) and not learning from his mistakes that cost Micky really. IMO he did a amasingly good job a getting players that were good enough to keep us up and create/score goals in the prem. He just ballsed it with filling the back line full of crap. Steve Howey, Paul Brooker, Craig Hignett, John Curtis, Steve Guppy, Peter Canero, Lee Morris, Nikos Dabizas, Nicolas Priet, Jason Wilcox, Martin Keown, Nathan Blake, Scot Gemmill, Chris Makin, considering he was only in charge for 2full seasons and for one of them couldn't sign anyone that's a big list of cr ap players!! werestandingup_weresittingdown Posted 13 April 2006 Share Posted 13 April 2006 Thatcher for me!!! Always rated him throughout his career and was delighted when he signed for us. absolute quality. In my opinion, one of the best players to have played for LCFC in the last 10 yrs.
Louise Posted 13 April 2006 Share Posted 13 April 2006 I still can't believe Mickey Adams signed Stephan Freund instead of signing Nigel Reo-Coker when he had the chance. Mk Dons wanted £500,000 for Reo Coker and McAnuff but Adams viewed this as too expensive, and off both players went to West Ham. Why did he never sign Jason Roberts and Bobby Zamora when he was meant to? IMO Adams made some bloody awful signings and decisions! If I remember rightly Reo-Coker didn't want to come to us, he thought he had a better chance of Prem football with West Ham (even though at the time we were in the Prem) and he was right. dandannieldanok Posted 14 April 2006 Share Posted 14 April 2006 He also bummed Matt Heath. Maybe cos he was a good player, he had to be playing along Dabozas who was as slow as santa claus! Billy McKinlay done a sound job in our midfield. Lennon styke, nowt fancy but a battler and we were solid, he was just getting on a bit though. Good signing! Agree! He did a good job considering he was basically playing for free in our promotion season!
