Unit Posted 22 April 2006 Share Posted 22 April 2006 Doesn't the guy who owns Tigers have something like 60mil? Peter Tom? Peter Wheeler? edit - When I take over the world I shall invest all my money in Leicester City, but not in a twat-ish way like Mr Abromobitch, he's just created a whole new squad, my money would go on cheating. David Wilson's from Ibstock, not Leicester. David Wilson does like ripping up Leicestershires green belt to build houses. David Wilson does not like football (AKA giving somthing back to the county he's building houses on). Unfortunate really. I think he does chip in with quite a few projects ( i know of him putting about 10 G's into the restoration of a building in Ibstock ), but I think he's pretty much publicly stated he wont touch sport. Possibly beacuse property is the fast way to make 430 mil and football is a quick way to lose it. The duke of Rutland and Earl of Leicester have wealth in land that they arent legally allowed to sell. which means while on paper they are worth 70 mil, in reality they aint worth shit. All those below 70 mil will probabley be too poor to invest Really influential amounts into our club, they will use it to set up their family ect for decades. I know its alot of money, but unless ur really into the sport or stupidly rich your not going to too touch it. Im sure some other people could chip in with their reasons why the remaining candidates haven't injected us with lump sums, or in some cases bought us out. What it will all boil down to us that they dont like football, and aren't prepared to give money to a company they care nothing about. If you won the lottery would you buy a share in Tigers? Deathside Posted 23 April 2006 Share Posted 23 April 2006 Not related to Leicester I know - but none the less I used Jersey as the keyword (my old home) and was surprised to see: 13 Bernie and Slavica Ecclestone £2,243m Motor racing I knew Derrick Warwick lived over there but I had no idea about Bernie
macbeth Posted 23 April 2006 Share Posted 23 April 2006 i think they will sensibly hold on to their money football has become a bottomless pit with bloodsucking agents etc lets have more passion back into the game all these multi billionaire owners have ruined the game for me although i still love my club the game at the top end seems to have lost its soul in the last few years youngsters no longer want to support their local teams as they once did walk down any high street in the country and its a mix of arsenal; manu ;chelsea; shirts on show if you chopped up an old style supporter you would see the name of his/her club runnig through them like lettering in seaside rock/ this new style of supporter is just basking in reflected glory
Chrysalis Posted 23 April 2006 Share Posted 23 April 2006 the thing with money is in the modern era its harder now to establish riches from nothing, and generally you need capital to get a new business of the ground, so these people will be wanting to make sure their families are setup for years to come. If I had 70 million I would invest but I wouldnt invest much of it probably 20-30 million and keep 40-50 million for my family. Unless you suddenyl start winning the champions league their is very little prospect of ROI and so its essentially donating the cash. Out of interest tho if david wilson has zero interest in football then what's with the corporate box at the ground with his name on the door. The thing is most of them people have got money because they don't throw it away!! you don't get many millionaires who splash the cash, investing money in a football club is in reality throwing your money away you are never going to see a return on it, which is what most of these people want it takes a very special/stupid millionaire to want to invest in a football club, I just wish we could find one
