I don't think it'll be that much for definite. It was said to be £450 when first released.

There were rumours that they are going to do a cheaper version with a smaller hard-drive capacity.

Although I hate Sony, I feel I must say that it is suposed to cost 'only' £425-450. Us Brits ain't having the cheap one though.

Its a lot of money, think I'll stick with a PS2 and go for a Nintendo Wii - haven't bought a Nintendo since the days of the SNES but this one looks revolutionary.

It doesn't seem to be available anywhere else for pre order and you do get 3 games but who the f**k wants Singstar!!! I am hoping they are just trying to get in first and make a few quid and when you can officially pre order it then it will be cheaper!!!

I understand the Wii should be available for under £150.00!!!

The Gamecube was an excellent console with a great controller and some excellent graphics!! the only thing it struggled on was game licenses!! I fear that Sony and Microsoft have to many of the big software developers in their pockets to ONLY produce games for them and not Nintendo and this may well be their downfall again

All games available for order £50!!!!

You can get ps2 games from Tesco or Game for £30 they're the biggest rip off, then they'll probably charge you another £40 for a memory card, and another controller for 2 player. Loan anyone??

it's got a 60gb Hard drive for saving games and as for memory cards I understand it takes Sony Memory Sticks, you gan get a 2gb one of Ebay for £30.00 if you buy it on the high street £150.00 just to prove we really do get ripped off in this country and XBOX 360 games rrp is £50.00 as well! but it's still a rip off

Companies take the piss - but people still go ahead and pay what they demand...so who is the fool? If people kept their hands in their pockets then Sony et al would have no alternative but to reconsider their marketing strategy.

Having said that, Sony make cool kit. Cool enough, in fact that I have no fudging intention of trading up on my PSP and PS2! The improvement on gaming simply doesn't bear out on a cost-fun analysis.

I'll wait till one starts to appear for cheap on Ebay.

If it's cost to fun ratio you're interested in, then there will only ever be one winner!!!

...but you can't do that in front of your friends down the pub apparently. I wish someone had told me before hand.

By the time its released there will be a series of bundles, similar to the Xbox360, including a value system (which will suit most casual gamers) at a reduced price. The costs for pre-order are always high because of demand, the system will not cost that and you will get a refund for the difference, I think the value pack will retail for about £350.

No i think someone knows best

Anyway, without revealing too much - the £550 package this thread speaks off:-

http://www.play.com/Games/PlayStation3/4-/...html?P36=3SXQHT

Includes 3 games (take these from the bundle at a reduction of about £100 and a 60 GB HD - believe me not a standard, the reduction to a 15-20GB planned - anouther £100-150)

Therefore £350 in simple terms

I know you work for them so obvioulsy you must know summat!!

But from what I heard (it was on IGN/Gamespot so it must be true!!) Britain was not going to get the basic 20GB, no HD, no Wi-Fi version as they couldn't see a market for it!!

Also that the machine itself (no games) would be around £425. About £390 in Europe!!! (Rip-off Britain!!!)

Britains always expensive, but its not the developers fault, its the high tax rates on imports and certain electronic products if components are made outside the UK.

As i am lead to believe there will be three bundles, Value, Intermediate and Full with the first coming in at about £350

Anyway they are fantastic so pre-order one today

£350 for the bottom of the range version fantastic or not it's a bit of a riff off!!

when in reality I could have an xbox360 and a Wii for the dame price as the medium PS3!!!

I wouldn't be happy getting anything with blu-ray until I know the tech is going to last...

...otherwise it is a bloody expensive games version of a betamax!

T'other problem is the crappy, cheap one doesn't even have HDMI output!!! So what are you paying £350 for???

Peter Moore is almost asking people to buy a Wii and a 360, to destroy Sony's share!! (That's Wii60 to you!)

The price will fall periodically anyway so just wait till you can afford one.

In my opinion, coming from someone who has worked using the ps3 and xbox360, the ps3 is by far the superior machine potentially. People get too boged down with specs, you are only playing games the developers make and the ps3 is superior to work on and you can get more out of it simpler!

The Wii sorry to say is going to have problems with the new gimmic controler. I dont think Nintendo are too sure about it either - they have included ports for the Gamecube controlers to be used!

It is going to last, its supperior capabilities over the HD-DVD and the fact that its got support from companies like Sony, Dell, Samsung, MGM, Walt Disney and game companies like EA.
