I went and we won :D

Ackerman got a half century and we won by something like 18 runs.

My first trip to grace road, £2.60 for a pint of black and water seemed alittle steep to me though :ermm:

The Guardian

Leicestershire remain on course to maintain their record of always reaching finals day after beating their North Division rivals Derbyshire yesterday. Exactly why the Foxes have made such a speciality of Twenty20 cricket is a matter of debate even among their own supporters - it suits their attention span, is one affectionately cruel suggestion - but an ability to win matches in which they have not played particularly well has much to do with the secret of their success.Winning the toss and batting first on a grey, muggy evening, Leicestershire's innings had begun with a deliberation that unnerved the crowd, the more so when Graeme Welch yorked Darren Maddy.

Dinesh Mongia was the first to improve the run-rate and, although the India Test player was bowled by Kevin Dean for 20, Hylton Ackerman and the debutant Paul Harrison picked up where he left off. Both struck Dean for sixes in the same over before Harrison, trying to repeat the feat off the bowling of Ant Botha, fell to a good catch by Steve Stubbings on the midwicket boundary.

Ackerman went to his half-century off 41 balls with a fine straight-driven boundary off Botha before being trapped in front by a full toss from Steffan Jones, but Paul Nixon, with 25 runs off 18 balls, and latterly Jeremy Snape ensured that the home team would be defending a competitive total.

The pressure that Derbyshire were under made itself felt immediately, Michael Di Venuto missing an Adam Griffith inswinger as he tried to force through the leg side. Welch also went quickly, caught at slip by Ackerman trying to slog Nick Walker, and when Griffith had Jamie Pipe caught behind from a genuine lifter, the Phantoms were deep in touble at 18 for three.

Tight bowling and fielding at this point would have turned the screw but neither was forthcoming. Graham Wagg hit 27 off 17 balls before David Masters finally got an inswinger on target, but it took the introduction of Snape's off-spin before the run-rate finally began to slow. Conceding only 19 runs off his four overs, and picking up the wicket of Marcus North along the way, his proved a decisive intervention, though not before Stubbings had made local hearts beat faster by hitting six fours in a 41-ball fifty.

In fact with three overs remaining Derbyshire were still very much in the game. Snape's decision to throw the ball to Jim Allenby was greeted with raised eyebrows, but the Australian-born youngster held his nerve, pitched the ball right up, and Stubbings holed out to Maddy at long-on.

With Griffith hitting an equally effective length - right up in the block hole - in his final over, the Phantoms were stymied, although Chris Taylor finished unbeaten on 24.

Going down the County Ground if the weather is nice, going to stuff Glamorgan. Come on the boys (that is not an order --- )

I might too, not sure yet though, depends whether the girlfriend wants to see me or not

I'll be wearing my City shirt if i do tho :):)

Nope, i couldn't afford it. Not sure i can afford this one either though :(

Weather looks dodgy. Going to hold off til about 4 to make a decision.

There is ALWAYS someone in a Leicester shirt at Northants games - all different people too. We have a decent fanbase down here.

Don't know if you remember Nick Cook, spinner who used to play for Northants about 10 years ago? Massive City fan, always had a chat with him about it.

Pity finals day is when the footy season starts again.

We'll be at home to Ipswich, and I have said if we make it and are the first semi, we could go to both, but I have been told not to entertain such silly ideas.

leicestershire won again

Great result again for the boys. Unbelieveable spell of bowling by Onions for Durham though. 1-9 off 4 overs. Met him a few times when I was up in Newcastle as he is a close friend of a mate of mine up there and he's a top lad. Hopefully if he can stay injury free he should be challenging for an England place in the next couple of seasons. Great to see young English bowlers with raw pace.

Not yet. We beat Yorks today (third time this year we've bowled out the opposition, a tremendous achievement), and so we've a foot in the door for the quarters.
