Referee gets a 5, the red card against Rooney was way too harsh. That Portuguese know how to impress the man in black with a beautiful theatre performance.

Tbh with you, I didn't spot much difference between those two games, apart from the one sending off.

The whole tournament (especially the phase after the group games) is making me yawn.

Nothing really exciting, more a culmination of uninspirational displays. I want goals, not shootouts, goddammit!

The stutter is something that doesn't make a difference in my opinion, if he hadn't of stuttered the keeper still would od saved it.

Beckham 5 (Started better but his crosses got worse and worse and we stopped getting round the back as the game progressed)

Lampard 7 (An altogether better game but the penalty emphasised that he cannot buy a goal and SGE hadn't got the personality to psyche him into getting one)

Hargreaves 9 (Man of the match by a distance)

Gerrard 6 (Just never had enough influence for me)

Joe Cole 6 (Similar to Gerrard. Presumably under orders not to take people on and never had a rampant attack to bring the best out of him)

Rooney 4 (Worked industriously until his brainstorm but the tactics nullified his talent which was proof of how awful they were)

Subs:

Crouch 7.5 (As dangerous as he could be. He had two excellent chances and it was a pity he couldn't convert, but he was around to have them on a barren day for everyone and otherwise was a real hero in sticking to a thankless task)

Lennon 6.5 (Some dangerous runs and should have been given more of the ball although that was understandably not easy with a man short).

Carragher 2 (No relevence apart from his penalty. Unusually seemed to lose heart after the referees decision to order a retake).

SGE: There are no words printable which would adequately describe my contempt for the man not just today but throughout the competition). But then I would never have chosen his sort to manage England so we got what we deserved and what I expected to the very round.

I tell you what, not having to listen to negative commentators was beautiful. The Fan Park was just full of a sense of positivity...hence my number are much more complimentary to those of you that sucked in the waffle.

robbo-7.5 - Had a very solid game, never conceeded a goal FFS

becks- 8 - his best performance for ages until injury. He ran his heart out today.

cole - 6.5 - closed down as a key player, we did not change tactics as a result

I wish we could bring Beckham on just for set-pieces.

I'd consider playing Beckham in the middle, he could release both wingers from that position and he could support the right winger by being there to swing a cross in from deep.

Lampard and Gerrard were shocking all the way through the tournament, they both looked sh*t scared every game. Their passing was poor, they barely made any attacking runs, their shooting was very poor (excert Gerrard against Trinidad) and they never realyl showed any determination to change that.
