davieG Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 Celtic boss Gordon Strachan has allowed Adam Virgo to join Coventry City on a season-long loan. Strachan has helped out his former club by sanctioning the defender's loan switch to The Ricoh Arena. Virgo only joined the SPL giants 12 months ago, with Strachan explaining his reasons for granting the 23-year-old a move. "Adam Virgo is going on loan to Coventry," Strachan told the club's official website. Ipswich Town have rejected an offer from Coventry for striker Sam Parkin. Town chief Jim Magilton rejected City's offer - despite the fact he did not even make the bench for Ipswich's opening day defeat to Crystal Palace. "There was an initial enquiry from Coventry and we rejected an offer but there's been nothing more since," said Magilton. "Sam is still part of my thinking and will be in the squad for Tuesday's game against Wolves. "He was in the squad for the Palace game but didn't make my 16 because I felt his form in pre-season wasn't as good as the other players who were in the squad." The Sky Blues are looking to bolster their strike-force with a big, strong striker and have also been linked with Sunderland's Kevin Kyle in recent weeks. Both from Sky Does this mean McSheffry's (sp) on his way out?
Nebdingo Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 How come Cov have money and we don't. <_< Leicester City Ladies have more money than the senior squad!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 7 August 2006 Posted 7 August 2006 How come Cov have money and we don't. <_< I have absloutley no idea, Parkin is at least a £500,000 man ( although we dont know what Cov bid, it may of been a cheeky low bid ) this is on top of what they have already spent which is a stupidly large amount for them. They haven't got new investers or anything have they? are they taking a percentage of the earning from the fooking Tesco store at their ground?
chili_con_carne Posted 8 August 2006 Posted 8 August 2006 They probably get all there money from the sponsors, sponsoring goal kicks.? Wasnt it at there 'arena' when everytime they took a goal kick it came up on the screen with ' this goal kick was sponsored by .....' We should do this..
Ric Flair Posted 8 August 2006 Posted 8 August 2006 Coventry have come up with some bizarre 3 year plan that will see them in the premiership. They've got local businesses and fans, etc to stump up extra cash to fund it using various marketing techniques and plenty of spouting bollocks to get them to give it them. I do wonder whether it will catch up with them, but fair play for having the insight and bollocks to do it. I know doing things like this might lead to financial ruin later on, but it's times like this when you wonder whether that wouldn't be a blessing in disguise anyway.
Ric Flair Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 How did he get Birchall for £300k? It was only £150k upfront aswell.
OBO Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 It was only £150k upfront aswell. What a bargain, I thought he looked really good against Sunderland, could turn out to be money well spent for them
Dr The Singh Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 What a bargain, I thought he looked really good against Sunderland, could turn out to be money well spent for them It's so upsetting seeing other clubs spend money, I feel so poor, were like a third world team, feeding on freebies!!!
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 August 2006 Posted 9 August 2006 How did he get Birchall for £300k? Because that is probabley about what he is worth!
