Thracian Posted 19 August 2006 Posted 19 August 2006 Sunderland now 3-0 down at Southend whose fans are chanting easy!
New England Fox Posted 19 August 2006 Posted 19 August 2006 I will always despise Sunderland, due to the fact that my ex cheated on me with a Sunderland fan.
Mort Posted 19 August 2006 Posted 19 August 2006 Looks like their defence could do with a solid rightback ...also means that Southend is shaping up to be a tough match, always thought it would be, hopfully home team advatange will count for somthing and we can grab the pionts with any luck, at the same time I'm not as worried by the trip to mackem'land as i was a week or two ago
wooo Posted 19 August 2006 Posted 19 August 2006 they have got west brom, derby, leeds, then leicester
lcfc_jme Posted 19 August 2006 Posted 19 August 2006 they have got west brom, derby, leeds, then leicester Can't see them picking up many points from their next 5 then.. Looks like they may be in serious trouble only a month n half into the season
lookwhaticando Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 Time for some panic buys Mr. Quinn. I suggest a solid right back. Alan Maybury. He could be yours, if the price is right (Try 500k). But he's not just a right-back, oh no. He can play anywhere across the back four... and in fact, anywhere across the middle. We're almost certain than given a week or two to adjust, he'd also be handy up front!! Alan's middle name is 'Utility'! You're gonna need a new winger, yours are clearly sh*t. Sylla - yours for a measly 50 large. And who do your wingers pump balls towards? A target man! We've got just the fella. He's very experienced, he's played in the SPL as well as some Dutch and French leagues. You couldn't wish for more experience, and he's yours for 250k. His hold up play is second to none, his physical presence is matched by only a sumo wrestler. His (lack of) pace really suits his game, it gives him plenty of time to work out what he's going to do with the ball before skying it over the bar, or sending it wide. Tell you what.... let us have Welsh and you can have all three for just 500k. We're robbing ourselves here! Bargain

Seriously though, this may be the pushing point which may make him panic and buy Maybury!!
Floating Fox Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 The'll turn it around, they always do <_< There getting KP from Villa arent they and if maybury goes he will score against us
nhfox Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 It looks like Quinn is ready to sack himself, under the right circumstances: "If someone comes along to take the club forward, I promise there is no pride here and I'll walk," he said after Sunderland's latest defeat, which was a 3-1 loss at Southend. BBC is reporting that Allardyce is a potential canidate. Hopefully, Quinn stays on long enough to buy Maybury for 500K Link
Ultra Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 Niall Quinn over-reached bigtime when he appointed himself as manager. He should have learned his trade in the semi-pro leagues first, like MON and many others did. Once he gets a proper manager in there, they should manage to stay up.

Would be highly amusing for them to fall two leagues in two seasons.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 Apparently the Sunderland fans taunted their own players by singing: "you're not fit to wear the shirt"
Bert Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 Who wants to bet me that they get their first win against us?
Fez of Mahrez Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 "If someone comes along to take the club forward, I promise there is no pride here and I'll walk" As chairman or manager or both? What a farce. See, it could be worse.
Thracian Posted 20 August 2006 Author Posted 20 August 2006 Apparently the Sunderland fans taunted their own players by singing: "you're not fit to wear the shirt" Not a good sign but it won't help em much
Magictv Posted 20 August 2006 Posted 20 August 2006 Apparently the Sunderland fans taunted their own players by singing: "you're not fit to wear the shirt" ouch!
Mort Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Who wants to bet me that they get their first win against us? If that happens we're in trouble ...that said, looking at how they've played of late, throw the likes of Low, Porter and Hammond against them and their defence might well go to pieces... knowing out luck though they'll have decent manager in by then and hammer us :pinch: ... but let's just hope, personally I'm more woried about the Southend match.
Nationwider Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 They won't go down, and their slow start can be partly attributed to loosing a couple of key defenders to injury. Stead needs a good season to justify his existence - should he get 20 goals, and Lawrence, Whitehead etc start exert their influence, I can still see them making the play-offs. A lot of their players seem to be resigned to defeat before even stepping on the pitch according to my Mackam spies. Quinn needs to get a proper manager in quick. Unfortunately, he suffers from old-boy syndrome (hence the Maybury interest) and may make more terrible decisions regarding his successor.
Ricey Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 Quinn wasted his time in the summer trying to get unrealistic managers such as O'Neill and Allardyce, he was then forced to appoint himself until someone better came along and now look at the mess they are in.

Fez of Mahrez Posted 21 August 2006 Posted 21 August 2006 How on earth can he expect to perform the day-to-day roles as chairman and manager while also acting as chairman trying to find a new manager to replace himself depending on whether results improve or not? It beggars belief.
