davieG Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 How many free kicks has he given away this season by pushing the player in front of him. He really has got a lot to learn in the art of defending. Also got his 3rd yellow of the season from just 5 games
Stevosevic Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 I dont think McCarthy is as good as everybody says. he has always winded me up with his constant fouling but everybody still sings his praises. dont get me wrong he is OK, but he is not worthy of being captain and needs to improve significantly.
City_4_Life Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Maybe he should take a page out of Kisnorbo's book. He is playing good at the moment, and instead of getting cards he is getting goals.
lookwhaticando Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Maybe he's losing his grip because Kisnorbo has emerged as a classy centre-back. Just one theory.
Guest Gist Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Apart from the silly fouls he has been solid at the back I think.
Babylon Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Maybe he's losing his grip because Kisnorbo has emerged as a classy centre-back. Just one theory. He has always given away stupid fouls.
OBO Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 He's definitely not the shocking, shocking defender that Dabizas was. But he does give away a lot of needless, untidy fouls, that was one of the things that initially annoyed me about him. But I still think he's pretty solid.
Gené and Tonic Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 He and Kisnorbo are the best options there at the moment while Kenton is being played at right back. For now lets not change a winning formula.
davieG Posted 26 August 2006 Author Posted 26 August 2006 He and Kisnorbo are the best options there at the moment while Kenton is being played at right back. For now lets not change a winning formula. I'm not suggesting we do although if he carries on picking up yellow cards at the rate he is doing he'll be out of the team before the end of September.
bigneville Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 If he carries on at this rate. He will be on for 27 yellow cards this season....
Knighton Matt Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Paddy M was a worry today he was constantly half a yard slower than Freddie Eastwood. As much as I like the guy he'll NEVER make it in the premiership his reactions are just too slow and against world class strikers he'll be exposed again and again and again. I posted this in the player ratings thread but probably more relevant here.
Master Fox Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Paddy was fcking quality today, how dare you compare him to Nikos!
davieG Posted 26 August 2006 Author Posted 26 August 2006 Paddy was fcking quality today, how dare you compare him to Nikos! quality - you haven't watched many good teams then?
Master Fox Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 quality - you haven't watched many good teams then? In Leicester terms
Cobbo Posted 26 August 2006 Posted 26 August 2006 Bad refereeing. Our defenders got bugger all whereas COG was picked out it seemed. Forwards back in refs, honest.
lildave3 Posted 27 August 2006 Posted 27 August 2006 Paddy McCarthy is fast becoming a legend for leicester imo, he is amazing at the back, and a great leader. Fair enough he commits silly fouls but i think hes still quality.
escape2victory Posted 27 August 2006 Posted 27 August 2006 How many free kicks has he given away this season by pushing the player in front of him. He really has got a lot to learn in the art of defending. Also got his 3rd yellow of the season from just 5 games we have just had three consecutive clean sheets, when was the last time we did that ? must be doing something right
davieG Posted 27 August 2006 Author Posted 27 August 2006 we have just had three consecutive clean sheets, when was the last time we did that ? must be doing something right Did anyone say he was doing everything wrong?
escape2victory Posted 27 August 2006 Posted 27 August 2006 Did anyone say he was doing everything wrong? Well I thought you were having a pop at him about giving away too many free kicks and getting booked too often, something I will accept as long as he keeps the opposition strikers quiet
Lester LXXIV Posted 27 August 2006 Posted 27 August 2006 I think it was a shrewd piece of business getting Kisnorbo to extend his deal, IMO this guy has a price on his head which is on the rise after every game at the moment!
davieG Posted 27 August 2006 Author Posted 27 August 2006 Well I thought you were having a pop at him about giving away too many free kicks and getting booked too often, something I will accept as long as he keeps the opposition strikers quiet I was and he does! and from your player ratings I see you believe he needs to improve his distribution as well
Marcoos Posted 27 August 2006 Posted 27 August 2006 I thought Paddy gave a good performance yesterday and gave away fewer needless free kicks than usual. His yellow card was never a booking. IMO he is getting a better player all the time and is one of the better centre backs in this league.
escape2victory Posted 27 August 2006 Posted 27 August 2006 I was and he does! and from your player ratings I see you believe he needs to improve his distribution as well The thing is tho, unlike Dabizas, he has got years on his side to improve certain aspects of his game such as his distribution. Lets not forget he is only 22 or 23 and if their is a complete CB at that age then he wouldnt be playing for Leicester !! Be glad with what you have got, which is a fully committed defender who gives his all. Getting booked and giving away free kicks is the nature of the beast with McCarthy, and I feel that him and Kisnorbo are turning into a decent partnership. I will look forward (or not as the case may be!) to see how they cope with Hartson in the next game
