Louise Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Poor kid... Suppose it's for the best though... Wesolowski Ruled OutLeicester City have today revealed that James Wesolowski has withdrawn from the Australia squad for their upcoming game against Kuwait on precautionary grounds. Wesolowski was called up to the Aussie side for the first time on his 19th birthday last Friday. But after consultation between medical staff from both parties, it has been decided that the midfielder will not take up a place in the squad as he continues his rehabilitation following a series of injuries. City boss Rob Kelly said: "Obviously we are desperately keen for James to be involved with the Australian national side, but both parties have come to the conclusion that he would be better served to remain in Leicester over the coming weeks. "He is currently in the final stages of rehabilitation following a broken leg, and he has only played 60 minutes so far this season. With that in mind we agreed his time would be better served with us. "He has only just completed his first real week of training this season. "The Australian FA sent over a member of their medical staff to take a look at James with Dave Rennie, our head physio. "Both of them were of the same opinion and it was therefore decided that James would not travel. "We know that James will get another chance with the Australian squad again in the near future and we have all therefore rightly looked at the long-term picture." http://www.lcfc.premiumtv.co.uk/page/News/...~890316,00.html
Stevosevic Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 He will get another chance and it is probably the right decision.
Head Honcho Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Good news imo. If he ain't fit enough to play 90 minutes for his club wtf are they playing at sending him to The Middle East? He should be working on getting his fitness back with our fitness coaches not the Australian one's who'll no doubt and rightly so just treat him like another player. His time will come
lookwhaticando Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Playing a part in an international game wouldn't have been all bad, for us - a bit more match time for him, hopefully meanin he's more ready for our next league match. But fair enough - at least both sides have reached the same conclusion, rather a consensus decision than an ugly argument over it. Wesolowski will get his chance soon enough - the next international break can't be all that far away.
Master Fox Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 good, let him get ready for us. Good decison i agree
Thracian Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 Sensible decision. Kelly and his staff seem to be handling Weso's comeback with sensitivity and common sense.
MONreborn Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 The fact the Austrialian Fa's medics came over to have a look at him shows just how highly he is regarded by the Australians IMO. Get fit soon Weso ans push us up in to the top 10!
newms Posted 30 August 2006 Posted 30 August 2006 you would have thought the aussie fa would have contacted Leicester to find out exactly how fit he was before announcing him in the squad wouldnt you
Ric Flair Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 It will just make Weso more determined to get back to full fitness and assertain the midfield generals role at Leicester and then for Australia. As MON said, it just shows how highly they rate him for them to send a coach over from Oz to assess his fitness when they could have just called Leicester and asked them what their real opinion was on his fitness. He's probably had abit of a set back after coming off against Macclesfield as probably expected given what's gone on and these extra days training without a match this weekend will help both us and the player in the long run.
dandannieldanok Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 I know lots of people will slay me for saying this but I don't think, at the moment anyway, Weso is good enough for national selection!

Your possibly right, I mean what has he done to deserve it unless their national coach has worked with him before. It's abit similar to the Walcott thing but at a lower scale, Weso has only made about 6 appearances for us but on the other hand he is class and he's been very good for the Under 20's when he's played for them. Instrumental infact.
SydneyFC Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 its only a friendly anyway isnt it? It's an asia cup qualifier, but it might as well be as we've already qualified.
Tommeh Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 It has to be good news for us let's hope he's in the starting x1 vs WBA
Guest seanfox778 Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 i'm suprised they haven't called up paddy k yet

He did seem to suffer an injury just before he was subbed in that game - nothing too serious from the looks of it though.

Gamesmaster Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 Poor kid... Suppose it's for the best though... Absolutely for the better, the last thing we need is one of our better players playing in games that dont help us.
