maccfox Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Well we didnt sign Ronaldino but looks like we havent lost anyone either
lcfc_jme Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Well we didnt sign Ronaldino but looks like we havent lost anyone either I think we were only ever in danger of losing Stearman during this last day saga, but the club handled it well and made it clear we were only ever going to sell for a healthy sum of money (a nice large 7 figure sum, a lot higher than the one we turned down)
newms Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Well we didnt sign Ronaldino but looks like we havent lost anyone either its great news, whatever anyone suggests about selling players such as Stearman it is never a good sign when a club sells one of their better players to a rival. It will also keep spirits high in the camp and show that the directors are as behind this squad as the management and the players. Its perhaps disappointing they we couldnt offload Sylla and Big Rab but beggars cant be choosers afterall De Vries has already gone for the season
Bluefoxtim Posted 31 August 2006 Posted 31 August 2006 Bloomin hell! Bit dissapointed that we didn't get anyone in at all... 'got no money' yeah yeah!

And, generally, people don't want to pay big money for lousy players But the board have shown nerve and are clearly happy we can remain solvent as things stand, at least for now. Time to develop that team and head towards the top end of the table. Cos the situation may change if we don't get there sooner rather than later and if magic Mandaric doesn't turn up after all.

I think its the 1st time we have agreed with eachother Thracain

newms Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 I won't hold it against you, I thought you would suggest that we should have sold Sunderland our first 11 so that Roy Keane had a ready made mid-table side. With only the youth team left we would go up automatically with Dodds scoring 30 and O'Grady 23 respectively, Porter the instigator of everything. We would also have paid off 1/5 of the stadium debt to those ruthless yanks

Exactly Thrac. I fear if we are not at top end of table and pushing for playoffs at Xmas then a few more players might be on the market as the Board get frightened. A strong possibility of their plans.

The trick is going to be not letting on that we need the cash. The board need to be savvy, keep it to themselves and get the best money if it comes to that. This is why the Foxes Trust have a duty to keep info to themselves despite some on here demanding to know the details of what the board is up to.

That for me is the most pleasing thing about yesterdays lack of activity from us in the transfer market. RK is obviously very happy with his lot so therefore it's onwards and upwards.
Simon Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 Although I'm disappointed we haven't signed anybody, we haven't lost anyone which of course has to be good. Rob Kelly has obviously planned his transfers well, and although I've hardly been inspired by them, at least it shows he's properly thought out and prepared exactly who he wanted. This at least is encouraging.

Informing us of how much debt we are in is about the only useful information the FT posts on here. It's no seceret we're in debt and could do with some cash. Most clubs are in this situation, but by the sound of it we're almost solvent which, means we don't really need to off load players for less than they are worth.
Daggers Posted 1 September 2006 Posted 1 September 2006 The trick is going to be not letting on that we need the cash... It's no seceret we're in debt and could do with some cash... Manwell, stop it! Shhhhhh...no one let the secret out! I suggest that we all adopt a cocky swagger to our gait at matches in the future to convey the impression that we are doing very well indeed thank you, that'll fool 'em.

And the 19,000 attendance wont give it away?

How can we be solvent if we can't afford to buy players let alone own the stadium?
Thracian Posted 3 September 2006 Posted 3 September 2006 How can we be solvent if we can't afford to buy players let alone own the stadium? Because City own Belvoir Drive and now has considerable demonstrable assets in terms of players and those assets seem to be increasing in value almost daily and, indeed, as we speak.
