Smudge Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 Can someone please remind me why we signed him? Maybe he should be on loan at Lincoln to get some playing experience. :pinch:
lookwhaticando Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 He's a CB. We didn't have enough CB's ... you never can have enough really. He was brought in as the long-term replacement for premiership bound CB Nils-Eric Johannson.
Babylon Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 Can someone please remind me why we signed him? Maybe he should be on loan at Lincoln to get some playing experience. :pinch: Probably because it's better having a CB warming the bench getting 1k than it is one getting 3k (P.G).
lookwhaticando Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 Probably because it's better having a CB warming the bench getting 1k than it is one getting 3k (P.G). Good point... I bet Nissa's on a packet too, relative to McAuley... so let's hope he says his goodbyes in June.
Smudge Posted 13 September 2006 Author Posted 13 September 2006 Probably because it's better having a CB warming the bench getting 1k than it is one getting 3k (P.G). So why isn't McAuley playing and Nissa on gardening leave?
jumbo mills Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 he is'nt very good saw him playing for the stiffs
TrickyTrev Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 Because a balanced squad consists of 7 centre backs and 0 left backs. Fact.
Floating Fox Posted 13 September 2006 Posted 13 September 2006 Good point... I bet Nissa's on a packet too, relative to McAuley... so let's hope he says his goodbyes in June . Ill drink to that
Ric Flair Posted 14 September 2006 Posted 14 September 2006 He's a CB. We didn't have enough CB's ... you never can have enough really. He was brought in as the long-term replacement for premiership bound CB Nils-Eric Johannson. So McCauley is going to play at left back next season? That's started me off on a 10 month boner, WOW!!
Babylon Posted 14 September 2006 Posted 14 September 2006 So why isn't McAuley playing and Nissa on gardening leave? Because McAuley has never played left back.
lookwhaticando Posted 14 September 2006 Posted 14 September 2006 So McCauley is going to play at left back next season? That's started me off on a 10 month boner, WOW!! Doubt he'd play LB - we've Kenton for that. But it's another CB to cover for a CB slowly (well, it is Nissa) heading for the exit.
lookwhaticando Posted 14 September 2006 Posted 14 September 2006 Actually, I'm hoping Nissa does a Joey and signs himself a pre-contract with someone. That'd be useful. Or just goes away in January - that'd be nice. We need to lose another CB - Kenton's far more useful than Nissa and McAuley's cheaper as an alternative bench-warmer. Nissa out.
lcfc_jme Posted 14 September 2006 Posted 14 September 2006 Can't we just bang him on the transfer list, or offer him to any club that isn't ours?? Surely we'd be able to find somebody stupid enough to take him off of us
Cobbo Posted 14 September 2006 Posted 14 September 2006 We signed him to improve our status in the middle east.

lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 Neither. You don't want either of them put on the transfer list? Having an out-of-body experience tonight, Thrac?
lcfc_jme Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 You don't want either of them put on the transfer list? Having an out-of-body experience tonight, Thrac? I can't speak for Thrac, but I'd like to put McAuley up for a loan-move somewhere to benefit him in the same way as Sheehan, and see Nils on the transfer list, so he can get his Premiership move ( ) sooner rather than later
lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 McAuely's biding his time on the bench at the minute... once Nissa departs, he's going to establish himself as the rock in a solid 3-5-2 formation with himself, Kisnorbo and McCarthy as the centre-backs. Oh yes.
Thracian Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 You don't want either of them put on the transfer list? Having an out-of-body experience tonight, Thrac? I just see McAuley as a centre-back not a left-back. But it does get some getting over - losing at home to the team at the bottom of the sodding table!.

Oh yes. Is there something you know about RK and Gareth McAuley's relationship that I don't??
lookwhaticando Posted 15 September 2006 Posted 15 September 2006 I just see McAuley as a centre-back not a left-back. I think somewhere along the lines there's been a bit of confusion about who's quoting who. I was replying to jme who said simply put "him" on the transfer list - without stating which "him" he was referring to. Hence my question: Nissa or McAuley? I this can be salvaged... I don't think anyone sees McAuley as a left back - I doubt he's ever played there before. I think Ric got confused by my statement regarding McAuley being Nissa's replacement So you've no worries on the McAuley at LB front. As for Nissa...

But it does get some getting over - losing at home to the team at the bottom of the sodding table!. Hull looked good pretty good tonight. And the Sky team were suggesting that before Tuesday, despite poor results, people hadn't lost faith..

I think Ric got confused by my statement regarding McAuley being Nissa's replacement So you've no worries on the McAuley at LB front. As for Nissa... As my post earlier tonight said, I would like the gaffer/board to put Nils on the transfer list, and get some money for him and shove him out A.S.A.P. As far as McAuley goes, he should be loaned out and allowed to gain some experience, just as Sheehan is atm. It'll benefit us in the long run, and I don't see what the problem is in doing these two things, but I'm not the board so...
