Stuliasz Posted 12 October 2006 Posted 12 October 2006 Having a chat with a mate today who asked me what I thought our total fan base is and I found it hard to come up with a figure. Anyone with any ideas?
DanTheFoxBhoy Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 Larger than most clubs in the division... it would be good to get an idea of a number though. Big enough for Mandaric
multipack Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 we have a good fan base of about 16,000 who will turn up rain or shine. We do have the fans who will turn up when things are good and we get to cup finals and play off finals etc which means 40,000. sheff wed is a good example, play off final, over 40,000, average gate this season 20,000
SystonFox Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 there is an article in the mercury (thursday) that says Leicester have a good "die-hard" fan base. travelling to 23 home and away games each totalling £1500ish for an adult. or was it £2500? (per season). either way i'd say we have a big fan base as our nearest rivals are 20 odd miles away.

Have you ever queued over night to try and get tickets to get tickets for Wembley? They're snapped up within hours and the 40k could easily be sold three times over. Many fans only go to a few games a season so when we were averaging nearly 30k a week that didn't mean we had 30k fans but probably around 80 - 90k many of whom only go to a few games each. I'd put our core fanbase at about 15-20 thousand. Then another 20-30 thousand predominantly fair weather fans who will go to most games when things are good on top of that but probably another 100,000 again who will sometimes go to games and could well come out of the woodwork more if we had some success / more affordable prices.
Floating Fox Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 We have a huge fan base. Think of towns such as Kettering, Corby, Burton that we could attract peple from. Maybe even Northamton. Forest manged to do it with towns like loughborough and Melton back when they were good :pinch:
Guest seanfox778 Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 has anyone noticed whenver they go on holiday to anywhere you always find a couple of leicester fans
Mort Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 has anyone noticed whenver they go on holiday to anywhere you always find a couple of leicester fans Now you mention it... i always seem to see the odd person in a city shirt, not this seasons so far though
Phube Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 2,000 - Hardcore + 10,000 - Every Home, few Away + 4,000 - Most home games, no Away + 14,000 - Fair weather + 50,000 - Wembley supporters! That's my guess anyways...
The People's Hero Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 has anyone noticed whenver they go on holiday to anywhere you always find a couple of leicester fans Bizarrely, when I went to Ibiza, I saw a fair few of the usual suspects Man Utd/Liverpool/Chelsea/Arsenal. Surprisingly though, I saw LOADS of Leicester fans. I saw at least 5 or 6 in our hotel alone. I saw a few more out and about and an Ibizan car had LCFC BABYSQUAD written in to the dirt on the windscreen!

Forest manged to do it with towns like loughborough and Melton back when they were good :pinch: I've had to go to Kettering and Corby several times recently and i was amazed at the number of people in City shirts i saw. I went into a newsagent and they were selling the Mercury, i asked the woman behind the counter why and she said there were many people who wanted it.
The People's Hero Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 makes you proud!!! Whoever did it may not have even been in the Babysquad. I never spotted any LCFC (I'm unobservant) - it was my girlfriend who kept pointing them out to me.
Scarby Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 I saw at least 5 or 6 in our hotel alone. to be honest they were your mates werent they

Mad Dog Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 100% honestly - I saw more LCFC fans in Germany this summer at the World Cup than any other English club fans. It was bizarre.
Guest Gist Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 Wasn't there a poll a few months back saying how many fans we had in total and we were about 12th I think?
Foxello Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 We have a massive fan base. Infact once i heard that we had the 2nd most listed fan bases in UK( only beaten by Man Utd). Dont know if that is still true but it was about 3 years ago.

I think you must mean some bizarre statistic someone has concocted in relation to the fact that we don't have any other League clubs in Leicestershire.
Foxello Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 I'm sorry but i'd like to see evidence of this as I find it very hard to believe... We were in the Premiership at the time(i think) and since then we've been losing fans like flies
Lester LXXIV Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 We were in the Premiership at the time(i think) and since then we've been losing fans like flies But there's no way we could have had a bigger fan base then the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs
Foxello Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 But there's no way we could have had a bigger fan base then the likes of Liverpool, Arsenal or Spurs You misread my post. We had more listed fan clubs then anyone except Man Utd. TRUST ME ITS TRUE. It probably aint now. Fans dropping like flies...
Cheese Me Posted 13 October 2006 Posted 13 October 2006 We always used to be well supported internationally too. When Keller was in goal we were the most supported team in the US and also have a big following in Scandinavia. I also saw loads of Leicester fans at the world cup.

When Keller was in goal we were the most supported team in the US and also have a big following in Scandinavia. I also saw loads of Leicester fans at the world cup. That is not true. The majority of football fans in the US don't know that Leicester City exists...even when Keller played for City.
