Isle of Wight seasons;

Winter - only three five-minute snowfalls and about 10 frosts in the last seven years. Never gets really cold, sometimes it'll reach 0°C but not often. I do miss a bit of snow.

Spring - Great! This place is called the 'Garden Isle' and in Spring the whole place really is a beautiful sight. Can get warm really early. I think the earliest I've been sunbathing on the beach was the third weekend in March 2000 - got the top of my (bald) head burnt. Always use sun cream now!

Summer - Absolutely brilliant! Sun, sea, sangria and BEACH SOCCER! So many different beaches all within not more than a forty minute drive! Beach parties, music festivals, carnivals etc etc

Autumn - stays warm usually until late October/early November but boy can it rain!! Thankfully it always seems to save the rain for night-time. The Solent gets more foggy in Autumn than any other season. It's really haunting lying awake at night with the bedroom window open listening to the ship's foghorns.

And the winner is...SUMMER!! :banana::bounce::banana::bounce::banana::bounce:

Enough people thought it a good song to make it a monster hit and I for one would love to have a fraction of Bryan Adams enduring talent. In concert he's terrific too - up there with the best. But then anything to do with the 60's seems a lot closer to those of us who were teens through that era than to anyone else. To me there's never been a time like it. Especially as a football fan with four cup finals... :):):)

It reached the dizzy heights of no.42 in 1985. Sorry.

I can't argue with that. I've not been a chart follower for donkey's years.

But it turns up on so many CD's and radio programmes plus it's a song so obviously known by all and sundry I'd still have thought of it as almost one of the anthems of the music industry - and therefore a monster hit without having the faintest idea of what the precise definition of a monster hit is!. :)

* I certainly wouldn't have minded the royalties for having written it cos it was apparently on Adams fourth album, Reckless, which was supposedly a World No 1 released on his 25th birthday, November 5, 1984, which included five Top 20 singles: "Somebody," "Heaven" (which hit number one), "Summer of '69" (Top Ten), "One Night Love Affair," and a duet with Tina Turner, "It's Only Love." No idea which Top 20 they were referring to - presumably the US.

Autumn, where the hot blanket of summer is broken through by cool winds, and golden brown leaves fall and blanket the soft hilly brush through which we go skipping. :ph34r:

You feeling alright, Dan? :P

Winter. Birthday, Christmas and New Years Eve/Day. Winner for me by far. Much drunken-ness, money, gifts and stupidity :D:P

I'm lucky, I get to pace myself as my birthday is essentially right in the middle of the year. :P

There's also more giftage that way, too. :ph34r:

That song is like sh/t in a field over here during the summer - friggin' everywhere.

Just about every radio station can get away with playing it. The regular Rock stations, the Classic Rock stations, the pop and light rock music stations... even the country music channels somehow sneak it into their line-ups. :blink:

Of course, that's probably down to the fact he was born just down the road from us. :pinch:

Leicester Sound play it about every hour. I think it's one of those records that people found later, and appreciated more, if you get my drift.

Definitely so.

If he'd have waited 10 years to release it, would have probably fared better in the charts... then again, what does he care with the money it's brought in over the last 21 years? ;)

I bet he doesn't remember recording it, to be fair. I wish I could.....

The summer wind, came blowin' in, from across the sea...

It lingered there, to touch your hair, and walk with me...

All summer long, we sang a song, and then we strolled that golden sand!

Two sweethearts, and the summer wind

Winter birthdays are amazing. Something to look forward to all year round, and there's a lot happening to keep you happy even in the extreme cold we get :D:P

Don't really have a preference, but I do dislike winter. Snow is evil!

:blink: Not much snow in England anyway!! Love winter, hate autumn!!
