Daggers Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Presently, players continue to act in an outrageous manner ~ displaying absolute disrespect for the officials. I wonder if the introduction of female officials may place this problem in check? People like Newell shouldn't be given the oxygen of publicity when they trot out crass statements like this. Mrs Newell must be very proud. I for one am getting very tired hearing players and managers carping about referees all the time. I wish they'd all just shut up and get on with the game.
DaveyJ Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 I'm astounded to read such comments. I just cannot believe that someone would seriously argue that a woman cannot officiate as well as a man. It beggers belief. Well I for one am glad we didn't get him in as our manager.

Matt Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 I know i'm one to talk but i'm quite glad Newell didn't come to Leicester, He's a right moaning bastard (As I said I know i'm one to talk... ) first its the bung (Fair enough its a valid point that did need to be spoke about, but he seems to have gone on and on and on about it) then Women shouldn't be allowed to officiate football games, why? ALL officials are dodgy anyway, Male or female it won't change anything, I don't actually know what went on but i'm guessing the Woman assistant ref made a bad decision...Yeah our male assistant ref didn't make any dodgy decisions yesterday like they all do week in week out do they?! Then I read on Sky Sports News he has hit out at the Luton Chairman saying theres been no improvement in 2 years off field.
Guest Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 I'm going to be the first female to comment on this thread! Mike Newell should come and tell me that women can't do a job in football. I would enjoy telling him what I think. Troglodyte. The only reason I can see a woman being excluded from officiating in the male professional game is because she is not able to keep up with the game. And seeing as most male officials can't keep up, it can't be that big a problem. As long as she goes up through the ranks the same way as the men, and as long as she's of the same standard, there should be no bar. Men do officiate in the women's game. We had male officials in my one and only game.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 We had male officials in my one and only game. Is that the reason you don't play anymore then?? I personally don't mind if a woman officiates in a mans game, but I hope she's prepared for the increased amount of stick she'll get if she makes 1 bad call, 'cos it's inevitable really.
Guest Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Is that the reason you don't play anymore then?? No, I seriously injured my knee shortly afterwards.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 No, I seriously injured my knee shortly afterwards. Damn that's a shame Sorry What happened if you don't mind me asking?
Guest Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Damn that's a shame Sorry What happened if you don't mind me asking? Some tw@ almost ran me over as I was cyclying home, and I ended up flying over the handlebars and landing on me knee. Although nothing was broken (because I am a freak), not long after recovering from that, I twisted it badly (my own fault entirely). I have stretched the patella tendon, so my knee cap is partially dislocated. I have recently found out that being a freak made me susceptible to this kind of injury. Upshot is, I have to exercise to keep my knee stable (was told that at the time ). But obviously I can't take part in some activities as this aggrevates the knee. Football is one of them. I have taken part in some kickabouts, famously scoring a glorious header in my last one. 'Ave it!
Milky Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 all i'm bothered about is how good they are as an official. as long as they get a large majority of decisions correct i couldn't give two shits what sex they are. if she's up to the standard required, fair play. If not, get her off.

Although it's very suprising you didn't break anything Seems like you're just injury prone from where I'm sat... Isn't there any way you can get your knee sorted though so that you could (if you so wanted) play football properly again?? At least you're able to exercise and have a friendly, gentle kickaround Still scoring goals as well which is good to see Better than bloody Fryatt and Hammond atm!!

The success rate with surgery is about 60%, so it's not an option at my age. Of course, if I snap the tendon and/or fully dislocate my knee I'll get the op Injury prone sounds about right!

Not a good enough success rate so the op would be a bollox option I guess You must have the same inner-body composition as the likes of Darren Anderton, Gareth Williams and James Wesolowski Unlucky!

Worse than that; I have the same condition as Jordan Stewart.
The People's Hero Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Are we not overlooking the obvious? How did she escape from the kitchen?

Milky Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 surely jimmy hill would have been a better option
Nationwider Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Worse than that; I have the same condition as Jordan Stewart. You have Lazyitis and a massively swollen ego?
The People's Hero Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Behave. What I mean by that is that I scoff at the suggestion that women are equal to men. They are vastly superior in every way. *phew*
Fez of Mahrez Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 You have Lazyitis and a massively swollen ego? Besides, he was never limping, that was his gangsta lean.
lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 Worse than that; I have the same condition as Jordan Stewart. Could be much worse though - you could have the same condition as Lee Morris, and then you'd have reason to cry

lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 He';s a phenomenon in his own right! He is. A bloody frustratingly rubbish one at that. Ahh well he's gone now, and not a moment too soon

lcfc_jme Posted 12 November 2006 Posted 12 November 2006 To be fair, not many realised he was ever here.... Barber did. Didn't he think he saw him at training during the week?!? I just knew him as the bloke who was being paid for getting treatment. And I wanted his job.
