C-man Posted 17 June 2007 Posted 17 June 2007 Rodrigo y Gabriella have to be the most talented musicians I've ever seen. Dirty Pretty Things were quite disappointing on the whole, and I wish they had played a better Libertines song than France. The Streets were brilliant. Mike Skinner knew that the majority of the crowd wouldn't like them, but the way he interracted with the crowd seemed to change a lot of people's perceptions of them. Well, around me anyway. I did think he over-did the whole Freddy Mercury thing though. Muse What can you say? An incredible stage matched by an unbeatable set. Well, they could ahve played Bliss...
the_don Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 I was there.... Rodrigo y Gabriela were amazing....Fez (as usual) was the one who introduced me to them, and i'd seen them before, but they were still amazingly good. I worried that they'd struggle to hold people's attention, but far from it.... Dirty Pretty Things may as well not been there....Utter crap...They just don't have the songs to back up the attitude. The Streets I was impressed with....I agree with the above comment about Mike Skinner, he really knew his place (in a good way) and worked the crowd beautifully...Also, I thought his live band really helped spice things up. I didn't think he woud work as a main support, but then it just proves what I know. Muse, I'd never seen them before, but seriously, how good can one band be? It's just a joke. Every song's a classic. And I didn't have to endure My Chemical Romance, which also makes me happy

Trumpet Posted 18 June 2007 Author Posted 18 June 2007 Where did you all sit or stand? I managed to get in the "Golden circle" :D
Fez of Mahrez Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 Where did you all sit or stand? I managed to get in the "Golden circle" :D Me and TPH were about five rows behind the barrier on the left as you looked at the stage, just in front of the thing in the middle of the pitch. Didn't realise there was going to be a golden circle. Common sense really though. It got really lairy where we were especially towards the end of Muse's set. Having said that, there was only one crowdsurfer near us and I still managed to get kicked in the head by him. Most of it was just nutters running into each other though. How did the people in the golden circle manage to carry on drinking?? Did you bastards have a bar in there or something?

Possibly a yellow hatted bottle seller bloke? Under 18's shouldn't be allowed to go.

The circle got closed off from behind so people from other areas couldnt get in, but we could get up to the bar still, we had special wrist bands. I was 3 rows from the stage, to the right. Edit - that isnt me screaming!
the_don Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 I was in a funky wheelchair space, for people who use wheelchairs. I use a wheelchair On a side note, I would dearly like to watch a football match there, the view would be awesome How long before the DVD comes out, dya think? EDIT - As I was so blown away, I went out and completed my collection of albums yesterday (was a bit behind)....Absolution is one beast of an album...I had it when it first came out but sold it in one my characteristic "rationalisations" (Fez has met my mum, he'll understand)....What a chuffing masterpiece

And if there's a DVD I imagine...end of the year, early next possibly.
The People's Hero Posted 18 June 2007 Posted 18 June 2007 It'll be out for Christmas time. Along with Muse's 'Greatest Hits' to date. Don't worry about that.
