Leeds admit breaking League rules

Leeds could face disciplinary action from the FA after admitting they broke Football League rules by fielding six loan players at Burnley in November.

Graham Stack, Matt Heath, Ugo Ehiogu, Tresor Kandol and Geoff Horsfield all played as Leeds lost 2-1, while Tony Warner was an unused substitute.

League rules say the maximum number of loanees in a match-day squad is five.

But a club statement read: "We will co-operate fully on this matter and explain the extenuating circumstances."

10 point deduction maybe????

would make my Christmas if this happens!!

It's like an administrative red card really. Six points deduction would be realistic. Three points for the game they played and three points for emphasis and as a warning to others.

I hope they get docked points. That would be a lovely present. Anything to wipe the smirk off wise's tart of a face

That would be funny, although a little harsh. To be fair, if that were us who'd done that, we'd be absolutely livid if they docked points of us. They lost the game anyway, so no harm done.

£1000 - Well that'll teach them not to flout the laws of the game!!!

From Sky

Leeds United have been fined £2,000 by The Football League for breaching player loan regulations.

The punishment, for which £1,000 of the fine has been suspended, was handed down after the Championship strugglers admitted including six loan players in their squad during last month's defeat at Burnley.

Goalkeepers Graham Stack (Reading) and Tony Warner (Fulham), defenders Matthew Heath (Coventry City) and Ugo Ehiogu (Middlesbrough) and strikers Geoff Horsfield (Sheffield United) and Tresor Kandol (Barnet) were all included in Dennis Wise's squad when The Whites lost 2-1 at Turf Moor.

Football League rules allow only a maximum of five loan players to be included on a club's match-day teamsheet, which Leeds ended up exceeding.

The West Yorkshire outfit, however, argued their reason for having six loan players in the squad against The Clarets was due to the late withdrawal of centre-back Matthew Kilgallon through injury.

The Football League took extenuating circumstance into account when it fined the Elland Road club on Tuesday.

A feckin Grand????

They should fine the club, deduct points and give Dennis Wise The Birch (as in corporal punishment, not our Birch) outside FA Headquarters. I am sure there are a few ex players who would love to volunteer...

I got a Grand Fine for Driving without Due Care and Attention!!!

FFS!

No wonder clubs don't take this sort of disciplinary stuff seriously!

Two grand for breaking a league rule that's all to easy to avoid?!

It's like when Chelsea get fined for anything, it's five grand here, ten grand there. That's just change Chelsea managed to find in the sofa from Roman's last visit.

Point deductions or serious fines are the way to go - fine a Championship club 100k or more, or strip them of points. That'll teach em.

After what happened to Altrincham last season thats a total disgrace.

Is that this one Manwell?

Altrincham given 18-point penalty

Altrincham have had 18 points deducted by the Conference and have been fined £1,000 for fielding an ineligible player earlier this season. The ruling would put the Robins bottom of the Conference and would almost certainly mean relegation.

James Robinson was ineligible when he made 13 appearances for Altrincham this season, scoring four times.

Altrincham are waiting to receive the decision in writing before deciding whether to appeal to the FA.

Robinson, 23, signed for the Moss Lane club from Accrington Stanley last November when he did not have international clearance after a spell in Iceland.

The player left Moss Lane in February to join Richmond Eagles in Australia.

Altrincham club spokesman

"The problem only emerged because he went from us to Australia," an Altrincham spokesman said.

"The first we knew of the problem was when they (Richmond) came back to us and said they had discovered he was still registered to play in Iceland when he signed for Accrington."

The Altrincham spokesman continued: "As far as the club are concerned, the manager Graham Heathcote, and the chairman both want to speak to the players before saying anything more.

"The appeal needs to be made within two weeks, so we are expecting written confirmation of the punishment very soon."

The Conference National ended in chaos in 2005-06.

Firstly, Canvey Island resigned, following the resignation of their main financial backer, at the end of the season and dropped three divisions. This reprieved Tamworth from relegation.

Then, Altrincham were deducted 18 points after playing James Robinson, whose previous club, Accrington Stanley, had failed to get international clearance for him. Despite the FA issuing a letter to Altrincham confirming no breach of FA or FIFA rules, the Conference deducted 18 points and fined Altrincham £1,000. Shortly after fining Accrington a mere £200 for the offence, the FA upheld the Conference's decision regarding Altrincham.

At the Conference AGM in Birmingham on 3 June 2006, Scarborough were demoted for allegedly breaching Conference rules relating to their financial arrangements, thereby reprieving Altrincham.

Meanwhile, Crawley Town lost just three points for breaching the wage cap and other financial irregularities. Crawley announced that they would go into administration during the close season and, if so, will start 2006-07 with a ten-point deduction.

At the top of the table, Hereford won the play-off final against Halifax Town to join Accrington Stanley in League Two.

It's not even worth them punishing dirty Leeds if that's the sort of fine they're going to get.

2k isn't going to make them worry about doing it again is it?

Useless idiots at the FA... <_<
