Turtles Head Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 was watchin tv last night, when all of a sudden it switched off. After a few minutes there was a kind of burning smell coming from it. Unplugged it overnight, then in the morning tested it and it wont come on. Like it should, it goes onto standby when you turn it on, but then it wont actually come on. The standby light also flickers and makes a kind of quiet, ticking noise anyone any ideas?

Lord Nibblington Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 Something like that happened to my TV last year. It turns out the connection in the drum came loose, and they needed to fit a new one. Or something like that. I don't pretend to be an expert when it comes to the inner workings of a TV.
Rincewind Posted 11 December 2006 Posted 11 December 2006 The only problem with swapping them is a little thing to do with serial numbers.

Strokes Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 The only problem with swapping them is a little thing to do with serial numbers. Usually they are just stickers, easily replaced if you know how.
Suffolk_fox Posted 12 December 2006 Posted 12 December 2006 I had a prob with a freezer dying on me a few years back. I had no dosh to buy a new one, so I rented one. Problem solved! You can get a decent 28" flat screen for about £30 a month, and you can change it every year.
