Joe. Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 Here McGrath is also expected to retire after the Ashes.
dandannieldanok Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 The look on Mike Gatting's face when Warne bowls him He is the best bowler and that delivery was the best I have ever seen
Flynny Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 I have a sneaky feeling he might not. He's hinted at retirement, but he's also mentioned England in 2009... could go either way, surely?
Milky Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 why retire? He's still pretty much at his best and is taking shitloads of wickets. He'll regret it if he does.
Flynny Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 why retire? He's still pretty much at his best and is taking shitloads of wickets. He'll regret it if he does. Exactly. If he goes now, Muralitharan will nick his wicket record in a couple of years. Edit: Looking at his amount of test wickets, it would probably be less than that, possibly inside a year.
lildave3 Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 Because in two years if he fails and performs badly, he will be slated. Retire while he's still at the top. I think it's a wise decision.
The Stig Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 <in crap aussie accent> "BOWLIN SHAYNE!" sorry love saying that, dont ask why
Brummie-FOX Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 Here McGrath is also expected to retire after the Ashes. Shame about Shhhhaaaayyyneeee Don't care about McGrath. Hes a big headed ****
JoeyB Posted 20 December 2006 Posted 20 December 2006 it will be sad to loose shhhhhhaaaaaayyyyyyyyyneeeeeee what an ambasador to cricket hope he stays
Joe. Posted 20 December 2006 Author Posted 20 December 2006 I don't see why he would want to retire just yet. he's got plenty more wickets to take and bowlers to embaress yet. He is the best bowler of all time easily. Well done Warney
Ultra Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 A great character, and deservedly an Aussie legend. But a better bowler than Murali? I'm not entirely convinced.
Jay Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Warne is a genius and like all geniuses he has his flaws but he is worth the entrance fee alone a magnificent bowler and team player whose batting performances are often under rated and have often pulled Australia out of a big whole! but the way he can turn a ball is beyond belief. I heard a Warne classic the other week when he was being sledged and someone said "hey Warnie why you so fat" and he replied.... "cuz every time I f**k your mrs she gives me a biscuit" pure genius if you ask me.
The People's Hero Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Best ever was Mark Waugh to James Ormond in that brief period that Ormond played for England... Waugh - 'you can't be one of the best 11 English players in the country, surely?' Ormond - 'Maybe not, but at least I'm the best cricketer in my family!' Re: Warne... yeah. Great bowler... real character. Will be missed. Harmison has retired from one day cricket today, too.
Sods Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 Absoulute ledgend. Was awsome in the ashes last year. A true great. Just to think if he hadn't been done for drugs his wicket tally would be even higher. Top man and a top player. He said he would have retired if the aussies won the ashes in england. And he also said he would have carried on playing if the mighty england beat australia this year.
Flynny Posted 21 December 2006 Posted 21 December 2006 I didn't really expect it to happen today, even after all the media speculation yesterday. A true great and a huge loss.
surrifox Posted 22 December 2006 Posted 22 December 2006 A great character, and deservedly an Aussie legend. But a better bowler than Murali? I'm not entirely convinced. he may not be better but he deserves credit for his longevity and for the wickets he's taken with a bowling style that places a great strain on wrist and elbow due to the counter-rotational action with which the ball is spun (as opposed to simply throwing it)
