Who's going in January?

There is loads of players who aren't good enough to play for the club, in reality though not many of them will go, i think there'll be a couple of loan deals and maybe on or two exits but thats it unfortunately.

Mrhhmm I think;

Stearman

Douglas

De Vries

Williams

Bout it i should think, unless someone comes in with decent cash for Kisnorbo/Hume.

I can't see anybody being sold off..to be honest I don't think any of our players have the form to warrant having anybody scouting after them!

Stearman looked promising at the beginning of the season but I wouldn't give him a seat on the bench now. There was a roumour of him going during the transfer window.

There are many players who are being carried by others and quite a few who have drifted so far out of the frame that their careers are in serious doubt at this club. And of course there are those players who we all wish to see the back of..Low, Rab, MdV etc

I think that once MM takes over talk will be more about who is coming in rather than who is going out!

It would be great if we could offload Douglas, expensive wages and we don't need him anyway. If new players are coming in, then we could get rid of Johnson and Low too, but who would take them?

Posted

Get rid of Tony Spearing, Paul Ramsey and David Kelly

There are too many donkeys at City and the quicker we get rid of Douglas, Kenton, De Vries, Maybury, Johnson, Hammond and Low the better.

Potential transfer targets for other clubs are

Iain Hume (underperformer)

Matty Fryatt (unhappy and not living up to his expectations)

Patrick Kisnorbo (JACKPOT for any club that snaps him up)

Andy Johnson (just not fitting in)

Darren Kenton (behold!)

Nils-Eric Johansson (back to Scandinavia?)

Danny Tiatto (Australia?)

Rab Douglas (back to Scotland?)

But these choices also go along with the choice of manager once Mandaric has taken over.

never knew fryatt was unhappy

i would like to see nisse stay he's been solid at left back all season imho

But he's out of contract at the end of the season, and has said he wants to play in a higher league.

If we get an offer for him, we should look at it.

I'd agree... but there is no club in a higher league that's going to fork out for Nissa, on current form he should be offered a new contract (probably only a one year deal to be honest), but that would be impossible until there are funds to do so, ditto Williams although do we really want (even if we have the resources after any take-over) to retain such a indiffrent player :dunno: better to bring in somone new, but again this doesnt happen without resources and funds and without the take-over no such funds or resources exist.

Think Sunderland still want Maybury?

And, I wish Fryatt would at least try, ok, he isn't happy but the fans are still supporting him. When he doesn't try we're going to get on his back.

Much depends on who's coming in.

There isn't one single player I'd worry about selling although I do wonder how good one or two would be in the right team playing the right way.

Assuming we're eventually aiming for a top six place in the Championship in January I'd say:

Get rid: Douglas, McCarthy, Maybury, Nils, Kenton, Low, Johnson, Sylla, Cadamarteri, Douglas, DeVries, O'Grady.

Retain: Logan, Henderson, Stearman, McAuley, Kisnorbo, Hughes, Williams, Porter, Hammond, Hume, Dodds, Wesolowski, King, Fryatt, Tejan Sie, Odhiambo, Mattock, McKay, Tiatto, Sheehan, Gradel, Chambers

Acquire as a minimum: Right-back, left-back, right winger, quality midfield player, left-winger, centre-forward.

The squad would thus be reduced by seven players to around 28 and the odd supplementary youth player which is plenty. Other players would be moved on if better replacements could be found.

i want to say get rid of williams but i just know that he'l sign for another championship side with a decent manager who will get the best out of him and he will have a good season for them.

So do you think it will be an overhaul in Jan or just a few in and outs?

I think we should cash in on Nissa as he stated early that he doesnt want to stay so punt the fat turd out. The very least a City player should be is one who wants to play for our club. The grass isnt always greener BTW, ask Joey Gudjohnsen who is a boot cleaner at AZ the prat.

I fear Sunderland will come back in for Stearman and Blackburn for Kisnorbo unless we are quick to bring in some quality to show the decent players we have its worth staying

That's an interesting retain/get rid list. O'Grady in the get rid set surprised me. I thought you approved of him as a player?

Maybe I've not read your more recent thoughts on him.

We won't 'cash in' on Nissa. He's available on a free in June... Clubs would rather wait to save themselves a few bob. If he's really keen to leave, he can wait until he's free (more attractive in the market) simply by refusing any contract extension we see fit to give him.

Oh, I hear Chelsea are looking for a CB, mind you...

I dobut we'll see an overhaul. A couple in, perhaps a couple out. Little more than a refreshment exercise.

Re O'Grady:

How many strikers can you have? He's had a raw deal, like a good few, and I couldn't believe how his fitness was allowed to deteriorate before his injury - just because of some silly spat apparently. Anyway as it transpired that's ruined his season completely - and isn't he in good company?

That said I'm not impressed with his fitness level on his return from injury - Henry didn't look that unfit when he came back from a long lay-off and there's no sense Leicester hanging on to all their front men if they're to bring in a better striker in January.

At least one, probably two of the frontmen shouild be allowed to leave and, so far, O'Grady has shown no evidence that he'll ever score lots of goals - in admittedly limited opportunities.

Ive played a bit of Champ Manager 07 and I can confirm O`Grady doesnt amount to much, nor does Hume. I cashed in on Kisnorbo to Italy no less for over a million and Fryatt becomes an occasional England squad member.

I have seen the future and with me at the helm we won the FA Cup before I left for the riches of Newcastle :D

To be honest we have too many similar style players in most positions but I`d rather keep O`Grady and let Elvis leave the building
